| | Saying hello... < on 7/13/2013 4:00 PM >
| | | New here and I wanted to say hello. I've been into urban exploration for years. However back in the day we called it "going into old buildings to check them out" as it was way before the name of "urban exploration". I'm an amateur photographer and my main interests are urban exploration and trains, especially train graffiti. I got out of the exploration for a bit. However the need to explore never leaves you and I'm getting back into it. I'm quite a bit older now so my days of crawling over fences, etc are gone. Going under is a lot easier on me. ; ) If I have the time and money I'll go almost anywhere to explore. I had a spare Flickr account laying around and I'm in the process of moving all my exploration shots to that account. I just started and it's going to take a LONG time as I have thousands of pics. Having said that it's a lot easier for me and all involved to use links where a single click will show a shot. I've included five random shots from some of the places I've been. Hopefully I can be a positive force on here and look forward to contributing.... | | | Nice selections for your intro post. I'm from a small area in VA, and was doing this before I ever knew there was a whole world of folks who liked "going into old buildings and checking them out". I wish now, that I had taken photos of even half of the places I have somehow managed to find a way into over the years. Like you, I am quite a bit older now, and when given a choice, I go under that fence instead of over! *but one of the young people I explore with informed me that I was "chronologically mature",and somehow there is a difference between that, and being "old". Gotta love these younger folks who continue to explore with me! I've been using the forum for just under a year. By being on here,I have met some really interesting, adventurous, and endearing people, who don't mind a little driving and spending entire days out there! Welcome, and Keep coming back.

| | | A warm welcome to you, James. Your photos are stunning, especially enjoyed seeing "Skyway" and the one at the church. You are very right - The need to explore never leaves! Looking forward to seeing more about your adventures.

| | | James, you're old. And I understand that. But you should really just use image tags instead of links. [ img ] link.jpg [ /img ] (without the spaces) Then your pics will show up in your post, and we can all view them, cuz we're also old, and too lazy to go clicking on links. Cheers!
Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =) |
