Project Kirkbride Photography 1

So in my last thread I mentioned Project Kirkbride....Photographing every inch of the Fergus Falls Kirkbride and putting it on an interactive website. Those pics, along with the website are underway. in the meantime here are some of my other photographs from that weekend. A lot of these are from the safety walk thru, the friends of the kirkbride tour and our free reign exploring of the nurses cottage and the other "red brick" cottage style buildings (the receiving hospital, petulance house, and the Catholic services buildings)

OUCH! LOL. I wouldn't pay for them, but they're not bad?! I just think if you're going to give such harsh feedback you could at least elaborate as to why you feel that way. Then again what do I know..

don't necessarily buy into the statement that Rinzler made there. If people dont like my pics, thats fine. the project consists of different photographers from all over the country. the comment Rinzler is referring to is the fact that we raised funds to offset city costs and insurance. it was joked around for a while when we originally wanted to help with travel expenses. at the end of the day, everybody paid their own way and all expenses pretty much ended up covering basic city costs and insurance

One way of looking at it would be that any money that was donated to this project went towards anything and everything that happened out there that weekend. One of the photographers went out, got drunk and murdered a hooker? That's other people's money paying for it.

People donated and bid money to pay for 3 hours of a complete weekend. we had our own security (volunteers) and no hookers were killed that weekend. also the building was in perfect shape... since this seems to be everybody's business (thou I seriously doubt anybody here invested any money) Let me break it down:
city deposit: 1500
porta potties: 120
insurance: 500
additional costs from city (if you want the invoice for that I can get you that too: : 760

total monies spent: 2800
total monies earned:3000
remainder left for web development, 3d image rendering web domain etc etc etc
: 200 dollars

mind you people chose to donate, I didn't twist any arms. everybody paid for their own trip out. yes somebody could have killed a hooker, but nobody did.. so can we please just chose to like or not like the images and stop this bullshit about the money. its not your money, its not your project. Its really none of your business

any further questions regarding project kirkbride funds can be answered by the Otter Tail County Historical Society. Any money raised on this project was handled by this organization. Nobody had access to the funds, not even me.

I'd be less cynical about you using money for porta potties if any of it would have gone towards making this a historical place and maintaining it and allowing us to all come and play. Can we use funds from your donation? Also I would like names and numbers, I could use some donations to go play.

why the fuck not.... oh wait.. a developer bought the kirkbride.. I gues you will have to seek permission from him.. bet you can get some great shots of the hotel they are planning to put up. I guess we didn't serve a historical purpose here

This is really simple folks. I raised a question, "what about preserving a photographic copy of every square inch of the Fergus Falls State Hospital before they demo or repurpose it" I did it legally, and all costs were entirely city demands. The reason I did this is none of you thought to do that before they demolished Northampton, Worcestor, Taunton, Pontiac or repurposing Traverse City, Danvers (repurpose= loose term here) or Buffalo. Anybody who explores as long as some of you do, could have come up with this same idea. If you want to criticize my photos, fine. if you want to shred the fact that I raised funds, great... but none of you thought to do this. Many of these historic places are only alive in memory and some scattered photographs (a lot of which many cant see because they were taken illegally) I really don't care regardless. Its an idea some still believe in and I am pretty proud of
