Yeah, I had the unfortunate duty of having to get past that mess several times over the holiday weekend. On the way up, I got off I-5 at Conway and took Best Rd up to Hwy-20, then to Anacortes. That was blazin' fast, actually. Best is best.

I decided to try the official detour once on the way back, and it sucked. The traffic volume wasn't high, but S Burlington Blvd has approximately one billion traffic signals on it, and they're timed such that you make it through exactly one intersection between red lights. DOT's liaison to Burlington's city engineering office needs to be fired. It doesn't take even a kindergarten education to know that dumping thousands of extra cars onto a signal-infested stretch of road isn't going to work out well if the signals are left on the same schedule. I didn't see any of those car counter thingies out there either.

For those in the know, there is some good side roads to take instead of the official route.

I live in Sedro Woolley and had to drive that crap everyday. The bridge fell just ahead of me, I was heading north and just pulled o to the south side of the ridge when it collapsed. Sure wish they'd hurry up with the permanent section, the 40 MPH slow down blows.

Play hard or die tryin.
