First UE Experience! Park and Fly in Irving, TX

I have been very interested in UE after I started Geocaching a little over a year ago. After perusing through a number of the images on this site I drove past a deserted parking lot that I pass by every day and realized the entrance was no longer chained off. I drove inside and parked behind the deserted building located smack dab in the middle of this massive concrete desert.

I did not expect to be able to get inside and snapped a few photos with my cell phone to get myself in the mood of the Urban Explorer. After walking around the building, discretely checking each door I got a lucky break! A hinged door was missing its padlock and I was able to gain access. Although the darkness negated most of my cell phone shots I was able to snap a few that were viewable.

From what I understand Park and Fly is still an active company that shuttles travelers from their cars out to the nearby airport (in this case DFW). This specific location closed down in 2003 for renovations although it seems there are no plans to continue as a new Park and Fly opened up on the same road just a few miles north.

Although this was a very basic and uninteresting building I still had a blast with my first UE experience. I hope to have many more! Now I keep my eyes out whenever I am on the road!

I have a few more trips planned with a friend for this upcoming weekend. Hope to bring a legitimate camera this time.

welcome to the group!

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

It's amazing what you can find out there and how easy access can become once deterioration sets it. Best of luck on your next explorations!

I wonder when the renovations will start? Since they closed in 2003, I would expect that they would be starting in the next 5 or 6 years once all the permits are secured. Nice job, welcome to UER.
