| | | I came across this in my W. VA travels driving near an industrial area. The place was pretty trashed and empty but I was still happy to happen upon it.

| | | Welcome! What we do is fun, but inherently hazardous. If you're doing it right, that is. So, if you are going to keep doing it, read up and do it as sensibly as possible.

Thank you for the advice. I've been doing this off and on for a while. My biggest issue is finding people to go with. I belong to a couple of groups but they don't get together as often as I go out, so I do this alone a lot which is probably more hazardous than anything I do.

As long as you keep your eyes open for hazards and err on the side of caution it's perfectly safe. You're probably more likely to die behind the steering wheel of your car than to buy the farm exploring. Which isn't to say you wont collect your share of cuts and bruises. But chicks dig scars. Nice pics, and welcome to the forum.

welcome justice, and for the same reasons, I'm most often out there solo myself. However, I have met a handful of folks on here who have been willing to host me in their areas or meet up at mutually interesting spots away from home and even come my way for some laid back company and a chance to share my hometown favorites. Hope you will be able to say the same soon.

Thanks Amy! I did a little happy dance in my car when I came across it. Circled the block enough to look suspicious and then finally decided it was safe to stop. My first experience in urbexing was in my late teens/early 20's and it was an abandoned coal breaker in PA. I keep searching for something that cool in my neck of the woods but have yet to find it. Oh well, the hunt goes on.
