| | | Wow! Beautiful set. I'm always amazed by the small town type of stuff. Musta been a helluva day for a new UE'r. Finding personal stuff on an explore to me, is always really amazing, especially things like that degree, someone worked hard for that, someone really cared about it once. Stuff like that is really something else.

| | | Nice looking stuff. I know different people will respond to different things in those shots, but I would have been really tempted to make off with that matchbox full of red bakelite buttons.

| | | MC these are awesome! You really captured the day well (and the 9 or so locations!) I'll try to get some of my pics up within a few days...

That jar of moss, in 'Preservation'? There was a whole backyard carpeted in jars/terrariums just like it. And one of them has a new home now....

This has got to be one of the best sets you have posted yet MC. You found such an enormous variety of subjects and you covered it well. Good stuff in the rural areas. I've got to say my favorites are Buried Beans and Forgotten History but honestly all of them rock. Good save HWH, now you need to find a toad or frog to live in that thing.

Think the moss pigs will get lonely?
edit: Check out this little article about them... they're incredible animals, and yes they live in moss Can only wish they were the size of a frog. http://reneesilvan...or-tardigrade.html [last edit 3/29/2013 5:04 AM by sara'mer - edited 1 times]

There were a few items like that, that I was tempted to take, but they all seem to have their place there. Except Hotwired terrarium. That totally belonged with her.

Why thank you, that means a lot coming from a frequent UEr like yourself. I loved the day, even the exhaustion afterwards.

As tempting as books are to me as well, thankfully there were very few left that were of the tempting type. Mostly molding advice books from the 80s and 90s. There was a ridiculous audio book version of a spagetti western that I was reluctant to leave just because of the sheer possibility of it being terrible but hilarious.

| | | A few more!
Richard's original birth certificate... His mom, Daisy was born on June 26, 1895 and died in 1980. She was dead by the time this document was signed. So was her husband, William, who lived from 1891 to 1950. Daisy outlived her husband by 30 years. What did she do after his death? She was born in the same county this house is in, and I don't think she ever left the county or the house except to go to...
I think she spent all her time going to church and making 'Jesus Saves!' signs to hang on the walls. There were also hymnals piled on the floor, pictures of religious scenes, etc.
Maybe this fine fella was Daisy's grandson. Moving on....?
Defunct.
Decline.

| | | I like the photos you picked, Hotwired! Much better quality then mine and you pulled together the story of the Death House Past really well. Did you manage to get more shots out of the day then that? We did have to fight haze and dust and shadows all day.

Thanks MC! I got a few others... but I would really like to see Death House and the one with furniture upstairs a second time. So many things left behind! And the shadows definitely call for a tripod. There's an extra one here if you want to meet up again and try it out! Oh, and don't knock your pictures, they're lovely, and if they're fuzzy it's because you're shooting with a potato..... wait dammit now I'm knocking your camera!
