Iron foundry [exploration circa 2011] < on 3/19/2013 8:29 PM >
A couple years ago I took some photos during a visit to this location, however I never did anything with the photos. (remember these are old photos and enjoy..)
If you have ever passed through Chattanooga its likely you've spotted the place from the freeway. I remember seeing the molten metals being poured , between the open doors when the place was active.
At some point in the last 10 years the company moved this operation out of state leaving the existing buildings to sit.
Seems like there was lots of climbing during this trip.. (and some running around on the ground?)
But for a reason... TO THE CRANES...
Thees indoor cranes would hold the vats of molten iron when the plant was active.
Quick look at the controls and then more climbing was to be had outside. a.b.
well.. he didn't climb up, but we did.
The original foundry was founded in Chattanooga in 1899, but most of the structures on site were razed in 2007.
after a few hours exploring you really start to look like a dirty foundry worker..
IMO: This location is considered public enough to enable this thread "Publically Viewable".. [last edit 3/19/2013 8:32 PM by Chris-Kicker - edited 2 times] http://ChurchofAtom.com/

Enjoyed this set a lot. Getting dirty and having fun...makes me look forward to warmer weather. http://www.flickr....ral-urban-natural/ I don't play well with chiggers and snakes.
