I didn't get enough 'splorin in during the day, wanted to hit up another site, but the sun was going down. No worries, got in without problems. Later on, we were hanging out on the roof, when Mr. Policeman shows up with his spotlight...

We stayed low, kept our eyes peeled, and listened. Had to have been a patrol, we weren't shinning lights around. 10 min later, we decide to make our way out. Trying to be quiet while walking through the woods isnt easy, but if you go slow and everyone walks at the same pace, easy cheesy!

The pictures didn't turn out that great, but it was a nice rush.

Great pics! Abandoned Schools are always a favourite of mine, so interesting especially if you find old school work!

That is a good point, we don't know if the walls they have torn into were holding up the second floor.. Need to start thinking about where we are walking around while upstairs in the buildings....

I am south of DC but within 40 miles. Pretty much all I know of these days is the old prison and juvenile center area (ffx county) which is kind of risky. I am aware that out 66 west there are things to see as well, but for the most part they are not much to see overall.

A cousin of mine does live very close to a somewhat unknown relic of a place that this summer we will take the short hike too.

Have you been to the Renn Faire (F-burg)? There's quite a bit of stuff outside of Richmond (closer to 2 hours away) but within an hour, I've mostly found homes and that type of stuff, but not much along the industrial/educational route. I'd be curious to learn more as well.

There is a LOT of stuff 30ish minutes to your South then.
All along the Northern tier of DC, there is stuff too.
There are still 8 asylums/schools, 4 hospitals, 2 prisons, and several smaller places that are quite doable.

I have seen pics of the old Renn Faire, but last I saw it was pretty barren, according to a thread on ffx undergound.

As to Richmond, I know a lot exists down there to see in that region, and was last month with Fumble and Anaklusmos. Great folks I must add. Fun people to explore with. We had a good meet up.

I am a relatively newer transplant here to the region and knew no one but my Mom when I came here. As it goes, it took a while to make local friends and indeed I have but when we see a place get abandoned, its usually very quickly torn down around here.

Case in point. I will be specific as its gone. On Clifton Rd west of Willowbrook Rd is a curve. The house with an X was there and then one day the people moved. Within a week earthmovers and house wreckers were there and now its just a dirt pile that has been smoothed. If I am in er by posting this image allow me to apologize for the exact image. Again it no longer exists. Its a dirt patch.

I know this is only a small house and all, but it shows what I mean around here. The only other houses I know of are off a major parkway in PWC and boarded up. Problem is getting there to them with no issues.

Anyway, Houses are fun and all, but I do much prefer the industrial and official type buildings anyway. I would love to see more of the better things and have been looking into that former youth center I mentioned. It seems that it was more recently visited though with the visitor doing a fairly clear statement on where and how the go to it openly online.

I did review what they wrote and saw another way, but suspect its fairly closely watched over.

I have the itch to do more explores and locally would be great! I do hope to go back and visit with Fumble and Anak and do more there as well. I cannot express how much fun I had there with them.
