Dam it!

This location is just down the road from my house. It's kind of tucked away, but not hard to find. There's a db entry for it that's marked Full members only. In an effort to "keep taggers away". At the risk of sounding cynical... Ya, that worked out well! Scrappers gonna scrap and taggers gonna tag.
I don't usually photograph graffiti, but I love the contrast it gives against nature inundating this place.

What a great site! I usually hate graffiti, but this is borderline pretty. And I agree, it does create a great contrast with the natural setting.

So is this an actual dam or is it just a diversion dam or irrigation control gates? I couldn't quite tell by the pictures.

That's a good question! I'm not sure. From what I know it was the dam for Lake LaSalle that doesn't exist anymore. The sediment is piled up to the top of the flood control gates. The run off just flows over them.

#6 is brill! Nice job TRUE.

That's a coincidence. Maybe I nearly bumped into your there True. I visited that same location on Sunday morning. I did a big loop around the East Bay to re-visit a bunch of graffiti locations including this one.

When I'm not visiting abandonments, this is the kind of location you'll find me (with a camera, not a spray can).

The artwork here was almost entirely different from my previous visit in January last year.

You're the man, FastEddie! Thank you for finding that. A good history lesson is always a great thing. In my opinion.

Weirdly enough I looked at this thread before heading out to explore on Friday and this ended up being the spot that I went to (without knowing). Nice surprise.

I have to agree with your evaluation as well as everyone else's....the artwork within the nature setting is a really interesting contrast and looks like a lot of fun to photograph....especially liking the manipulation in #2 & 3...get yo long exposure on fool!

I can see the appeal for keeping taggers away. That's a very nice untouched location!

I have to say there is some pretty interesting artwork out there, I'm not usually a fan of graffiti.
