Hashima Island off the coast of Nagasaki, Japan

Hey all,

I will be heading off to Japan at the end of the month and am planning a trip to Hashima Island off the coast of Nagasaki (http://en.wikipedi...iki/Hashima_Island). While there are tour companies that go there, I would like to go with a fellow explorer instead. So... if you or someone you know has a boat (or access to one) and would be down for a day trip to Hashima, message me.

Thanks!

I tried to get down there while I was living in Japan but just didn't have the time or money to do so.
I hear you gotta bribe local fishermen around the area to bring you out there, so beer for the bribe and being near fluent at Japanese?

The chances of getting on, then not getting caught with so much authorized traffic, and the penalties for foreigners in general doing such these days, I would take the tour.

Notably too, as unauthorized boats in the area get stopped by water police as well. So you'd need a lot of beer to make a local risk their livelihood as well. Suggest if you do not know this much already, confine yourself to watching Skyfall. Neko.

I read an account of someone who paid some local fisherman to take them to the island, drop them off while they took photos, and then picked them up before the tour boats started showing up. Might be a longshot but I'm still interested in going this route. It sounds like it is doable though, and the photos I saw are simply amazing. I think it is worth some risk...

If anyone near Nagasaki would be interested in joining let me know. I do have a friend who lives in Fukuoka that speaks Japanese, and I'm going to try and get him to join me
