Yeah It's John Waters. Also I didn't notice all the new(ish) replies, thanks for all the info. I actually ended up getting the garmin dakota but sold it sooooo I'm not too worried about a GPS (Not as much as I had thought).. As far as gloved go I'll look into all the good suggestions.

| | | I use my phone for GPS because it gets the job done but I wear 2 kinds of gloves depending on the condition of wear I'm exploring. I wear Mechanix Coverts for just easy places in good condition but if there is any danger of falling objects I wear oakley factory pilots to protect my knuckles from being crushed.

| | | Why'd you end up selling the GPS?
I used to have a gps, but then I went on a trip with a UER member of ill repute and it "disappeared" from our camping area, in the middle of nowhere. So now I don't have one anymore.
I'd like to get another one though. They're pretty convenient when you spend a decent amount of time in areas that ONLY have GPS signal and zero cell signal.
As for gloves... I use two kinds. One pair is my base layer used for damn near everything. They're Ninja X gloves. Now, a lot of people suggest the dipped gloves, but these are a bit different. While they're still EXTREMELY abrasion resistant, they come in a subdued color (black), and the dipped layer is amazingly tactile. I can reach into the pockets of my jeans wearing these and pull out a dime, or easily manipulate camera controls. They're very sensitive, but still very durable.
Then if I need more extreme durability, say while rappelling or doing other rope work, I just slide on some leather gloves over the Ninja X gloves; do what I need to do, then pull the outters back off.
I've found it a pretty awesome system that works very well for me. You can't buy the Ninja X gloves in most stores, except a Grainger Supply, but you can order them for about $2.30 / pair.
Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =) |
