I've been there. A friend of mine attempted to drain the upper silo. Apparently he was successful. The place is pretty trashed. The admnin building is missing most of the roof. The other buildings are in the process of losing their roofs. Its been abandoned since 74' I believe.

One of the buildings looks to have been used as a school for welding or something. IDK There are a bunch of stalls almost like shower stalls.

A word of warning out of my own stupidity I have fallen into one of the silos before and cut up my knee on the way down to my disgusting swim in freezing water. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE GROUND They cut a bunch of holes in the launch doors. If I hadn't been with other people I'd still be stuck down there.

Oh yeah pics or it didn't happen right?! lol

And here is the swimming pool.

Doesn't look like keys are needed!

Anyone up for pumping the water out?

The staircase on the watchtower is missing. Pretty photogenic spot with moss growing everywhere. Being abandoned for close to 40 years, some nice decay. Who are the current owners?

it was siphoned out of the top silo by a friend of mine as far as I know. May have seeped back in by now. I wouldn't do it again. There are houses directly downhill from the site plus if anyone ever has the misfortune of falling into it they will either die or become paralyzed. I realized this after my bath.

SCIENCE! has made these niffty devices to keep you from falling. They're called "ropes"

I just couldn't bring myself to be responsible for someone's possible death if they accidentally fall into it through one of the various holes in the top of the silo. It was a personal choice to abandon my plan to siphon it. Bought about $50.00 of pipe fittings and had it all planned out but I just didn't want to see a news story of some kid that died because of something I did. That location is highly trafficked by the local kids whose houses are around it. If you want to siphon it out again that's up to you. But I think its already dry. My pics are from several years ago.

I don't understand how you would be responsible for the actions of others?

If you're driving down the freeway and someone slams into you and kills themself, is it your fault for providing them an obstacle to run into?

I get what you're saying, but someone else's lack of common sense or poor decision making skills are not your fault.

What about the other people who wouldn't kill themselves and could have a really great time?

We abandoned a (short! dirty!) rope that we set today to access an abandoned ship -- both in hopes that it will be there when we get back, and that others may find it useful to have a really great time

As I said it was a personal choice. I'm not telling you what to do but reminding you of the possible consequences.

I see your point, Tom. There are staircases behind hatches that lead down there so rope access may not be necessary. I wonder about the large spaces under concrete away from the missile magazines. Someone has also mentioned me the possibility that the silos may be filled with gravel. The higher elevation silo is filled with water, about 4ft from the top is clear. The lower is filled all the way to the top.

It'd be cool if they pump them out one day, I have only explored the above ground stuff so far. It seems to take some of the fun out of it if we had keys and permission. lol

Flash photography makes it look strange. I would rather let it sit for 30" or just light paint it.

having been there i failed to see any large holes in the silo's through which you could fall. you are either exceptionally tiny, or incredibly unlucky. that being said i had never thought about siphoning it out, this is now what will proceed to happen. lets all hope it's not filled with gravel. that's way more shoveling than i want to do. once I get the internet back up at my place I'll post my photos from the various buildings.
