Those ropes seem a little close together for a hanging. If it was staged, that's cool. It freaked me out for a good couple of minutes.

Nope, wasn't staged. Those ropes seem like they were used as restraints, If you look closely in the pic between the tanks there are cut off ropes that were the nooses.

You can't walk along a barbed wire fence with a foot in each paddock.

Oh look, an expert in tying people up and hanging them. Cuz a BDSM hanging can't ever be staged... it's just unthinkable. Might lose it's magic otherwise.

Hard to simmer when you're fire hasn't even been lit yet

Tendrils of Melanterite.

Which have formed hanging off lots of ore chutes.

And massive crystals growing in the ground.
(the horizontal brown just above the green crystals is an ore cart rail, on the floor in the mine)

So, funny thing about Melanterite.... as you walk around, and crunch it with your boots, the dust gets in the air.

But when it mixes with water, it forms SULFURIC ACID!

Which means, if it gets in your lungs, mixes with your sweat, eyes, etc.

This makes for a particularly creepy explore.

So some of our fellow explorers end up wearing full cave-suits and half masks.

In retrospect we probably should all be wearing tyvek oversuits and full face respirators with acid/organic/chemical filters.

To be fair, the explosives and ALLLLL dat acid stuff were in the same mine.

But I do try, I do. Mines are their own animal, they're a subset of UE that isn't nearly as popular. They're my passion though so I like to try to parade them whenever possible.

I can think back on a shit ton of mines I've gone thru over the years......

I don't even want to know how many times I've been in the company of deadly stuff, and didn't even know it.

I'll just stick to my buggies and bikes..... Much safer for old guys like me..

You can see a million miles tonite, but you can't get very far.

For the most part, the only mines in my part of the world are coal, and those are wayyyy too unstable for me to consider.

Though I did have a very enjoyable day exploring a local sandstone mine a couple years back, they went for miles through a hillside.

As for the creepiest thing I've ever seen while exploring, me and my buddy were draining some of the underground rivers in my hometown a few years ago, we went probably two miles under the town, and through this one long stretch of it, starting suddenly, there was this weird greenish gray stuff on the roof and sides of the drain. It had formed sort of stalactites on the top of the tunnel and the stuff that hadn't solidified yet was still slick, and it smelled very unpleasant. We wrote it off as being just some weird thing as it was the first time we'd ever been draining and didn't know any better. Once we found an outfall to exit out of, we realized that stretch was directly underneath the town cemetery.

Won't you help me, Mr. Jesus, Won't you tell me, if you can
When you see this world we live in, Do you still believe in man?

Creeptacular!
Although the idea of being barricaded IN, seeing the green world outside (photo) is creepy, too...

That's pretty creepy, I have to say. You seem pretty excited about it too, which...is also creepy.

They're all biology specimens, probably floating in formaldehyde before coming to rest on the roof.
Good shit!

I was excited I could contribute to this lovely thread. Though also, it was pretty cool to see. I like how the one pig looks like it's eating the other pig's foot :p There was also a bag of dead animals sitting on a desk that I THOUGHT I got a picture of but apparently I didn't. Guess I'll have to go back :p

In an abandoned subway tunnel, in a gully just a few feet from the entrance is this beauty:

Looks less creepy with the flash on, but in the dark I swore up and down it was a human and nearly booked it.

Lots of sounds that day, too. We heard laughter from a distance. I think now it was from the platform....but the sound echoed so strangely that I was terrified someone was in the tunnel with us. And there was no quick and easy escape route.

You sure there isnt a body under that mask.....? That white fungus reminds me of Gliocladium, which grows on human cadavers.

The Durango '95 purred away a real horrowshow - a nice, warm vibraty feeling all through your guttiwuts. And soon it was trees and dark, my brothers, with real country dark.
