How decaying human flesh smells different than animal ? (serious question here, no sarcasm intended)
|
I don't know, but I have heard that human corpses do indeed smell different.

| | | Was making my way down into a mine and found...drums of toxic shit that someone rolled off down into the incline shaft. Had to climb around them and hope I wasn't going to come back out glowing purple or anything.
Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =) |

| | | MMMMMMMMINES! Mines have some creepy shit in them.
I decided that this thing is an alien. It's about the size of two fists held together, and its growing on some old mine timbers.

| | | This was in one of the houses I explored this weekend in a long-abandoned neighborhood. Not exactly sure why the water was red, and it had a small sheet of ice on top.

| | | Posted by CaptainSqueaky While exploring an abandoned house I found hundreds of newspapers about murder cases, small animals in jars, various animal skulls, squirrel and chipmunk pelts, and letters from the Massachusetts Department of Corrections. I'm curious to know how many of you understand why this is creepy.
|
I'll admit, I'm not sure why (other than the obvious). I'm going to guess that it was the house of a well known serial killer?

| | | Not "creepy" but found this when I was exploring an ares with some old abandoned houses by myself. I headed up the stairs to the attic, and it caught me by surprise, as it looks like someone may have bee living there. It looked like people had been there recently, (you could see some of the grass matted down where they stepped)...and as I started in to one of the other houses I heard an odd noise like someone else may have been in there, so I left it alone.

| | | Probably the creepiest thing I've stumbled across was in an abandoned house in Covington, KY years ago... a bunch of cats and dogs nailed to the walls of the basement. Needless to say, I didn't stick around long enough to take pictures (BTW, the house burned down about a year later). Now, the creepiest thing I actually got on film would probably be this:
Doesn't seem creepy unless you know the local lore, which claims that several children were raped and murdered in this building. It's not true, of course, but hearing that story and finding toys in an abandoned auto garage... yeah.

| | | Decided to finally check out a building relatively near home one day. Turns out the back loading dock doors were wide open, but beyond maybe 20 feet everything was darkness til my eyes adjusted. Then I spot this little scene:
A Witness to the Passing of Time | Vacuum Oil by FloodSpectre, on Flickr
The Watcher | Vacuum Oil by FloodSpectre, on Flickr It's a little hard to see, but in the first pic there's also some kind of stuffed bird head hung by a noose in the upper left. It was windy and dark so it was hard to capture it properly. And bonus, the place was amazingly loud from the water dripping through the ceiling after the thaw, the wind whipping into the building from the wide open entrance, and a metal side door slamming shut and whining back open over and over again. Here's the best part: A few years back an 18 year old ganger got himself killed and his body was dumped to rot beside the building. At some point his family set up candles and a teddy bear as a memorial where they eventually found him. I'm betting this is that bear.

| | | One day, I stumbled across a dead cat @N-10 in Byberry. I come back a week later and somebody decided to put a noose around the cat's neck and tie it up. I almost walked headfirst into it... I think Porcelain Doll was with me? https://www.youtub...atch?v=9fCFRPayi7Q (not my video)
