| | Creepiest thing seen while exploring? < on 1/28/2013 10:44 PM >
| | | I'm new to the forum, and a return to the hobby. I remember when I was younger looking for an old cabin or house that was supossed to be out in the woods near my city and although there wasn't much left of the building (though there was a pretty new bike chained to a tree) there were a good 40 or 30 winter coats of apparently 80's and 90's vintage nailed to a tree. It could be my memory playing tricks on me but i swear some had red staining on them. I've put it down to some weird art project or elaborate prank. It freaked me out at the time, what's e creepiest thing you've seen out exploring?

| | | When I was younger and first started exploring my friend and I went into this really old and big abandoned military fort. It had 3 levels and the basement level was pitch black as well as the largest level. The very steep and narrow ladder-like stairway that led down to the basement was surprisingly pretty deep. A good 30ft or so. The surrounding walls and ceilings going down the steps were caked with written graffiti saying "Help me" "Go Back" etc. I chuckled a bit but the one that kinda creeped me out the most was one saying "I SAW HIM". My friend and I paused and just looked at each other like "...what?" and no sooner we glanced at each other we heard a loud metal thud in the basement level we were heading down towards. Climbed back up real quick. Still never explored that basement level.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

| | | The thing that creeped me out the most was a jacket, a pair of pants and a fur hat turned inside out lying on the floor of an abandoned house- when I first saw it out of the corner of my eye, it looked exactly like a body... especially with the inside out fur hat, which basically looked like a head with patches of hair on it. It was a pretty good laugh when I realized that was all it was, but I don't think I've ever been quite so freaked out.

| | | Creepiest thing I can think of, someone left a cow head in a black plastic bag on the front steps of my favourite abandoned hotel. Not sure what it means, probably some sort of Shamanistic hex on the redevelopers.

| | | Probably the severed chicken heads handing from the pipes in the weapons testing area a the now demolished Ithaca Gun Factory. We had found earlier that night a spot where some wannabe "satanists" killed a cat and laid the body out inside a pentagram in the powerhouse. That was more stupid and cruel, but it was still edgy enough to rattle us. Then as I was walking at the testing area, my forehead bumped into something. When I shone the light next to my face to see what it was, I saw a severed chicken head with the twine tied through the eye sockets and leading to the pipes 2 feet above. That'll wake you up. There were 4 hanging total I think and I remember stepping on one as well.
I hate all of you |

| | | Oh yeah, there was also the bone tunnel. We followed this one drain further upstream than before, and the tunnel was littered with jawbones. Especially freaky, they were lined up along the edge, all facing in the same direction. I'm sure there's a natural explanation for how they were arranged, but how they all got down there is another story. Here's the only picture I thought to upload in the LDB. http://www.uer.ca/...l.asp?picid=313305

| | | I didn't see it, but was on the way to meet up with a fellow explorer at a location. He saw a handful of cracked-out, teeth-missing, vest-wearing, armed guys pushing lawnmowers through a drift down inside one of our favorite mines. In the middle of the desert.
