| | Rural Abandonment Australia (image heavy) < on 1/12/2013 10:52 AM >
| | | I'll start with an abandoned rural theme park near my hometown that got shutdown in 2002. The theme park was originally built in 1967 and opened in 68 by a family of midgets from Sydney. The father of this family having been long involved in stage productions of Brothers Grim fairytales, especially Snow White and the Seven Dwarf's thought it natural that the park should be built around this theme. From local knowledge it shutdown due to general failing interest and rising insurance costs. There are rumors of the park re-opening elsewhere after the rides and attractions were purchased and moved offsite.
I took my young cousins in as the site is fairly innocuous and 2 blocks from their house.

| | | Today I went to the old gasworks that serviced the area for a long time. It's fairly thrashed and very typical of aussie abandoned sites in the country, flat, open, stripped out and covered in graff. Still, a UE fix is a fix.

7.This building seemed to be fairly pristine though, apart from some porno mags and lube we found in a corner it was untouched.

| | | That last building looks like a depot, but I'm guessing an office of some kind. Anyway, what a sexy thing.

No doubt; it does seem to be a truly creepy place (both during its heyday and afterward).

| | | I remember that park from the early 1990's too bad it's gone, I hope Timbertown, which is up that way, is still going. I dreamt of working there when I was 10. [last edit 2/28/2013 7:29 AM by static2 - edited 1 times]
