| | | To be honest, I'd rather have bums dealing marijuana then people STEALING from abandoned places. In my book, Rape, Murder, and Thievery are the worst concepts around. At least people agree to buy weed, so it hurts no one but them. Think how pissed you would be if people were stealing stuff off your property.

| | | I hate it, as they frequently destroy things with no regard.
Yet another unoriginal generic UE website. GODDAM! |

Twice as pissed if you had just bought the property and intended to restore the structures and can't or have a much higher restoration bill due to the stripping.
Gone for a while. Be back when I'm back. |

One reason for me to not to reveal the location of places which contain stuff like these:
Not that I wouldn't like to see those stuff to see "another life", but stealing is always stealing.

wow amazing...i say keep it to yourself...don't tell anyone unless you trust them. its almost like going into a museum.

| | | I would have to say that stripping is ummm bad ummm. When the owner eventually demolishes the building they almost always recycle the materials and it means there is always a chance they might be able to resto the builsing someday. If all the fixtures and utilities are stripped it kinda makes it pointless. I am waiting for someone here to buy an abandoned factory for a dollar like bart simpson did
If you ever come to Calgary then email [email protected] and you'll be made welcome, taken to locations and given free accommodation. We'll help save you the $$$ you spend on the flight over here :) |

Yeh that would be nice! I have seen this at many closed hospitals, and other UE sites in vancouver. (that is people stripping metals). I haven't made up my mind whether or not i support or oppose this, as it does provide low income people around here with $,and does recycle things, but also exposes them to nasty stuff. They most often take no precations. the development co.'s allready make a killing.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too! |

Stuff like that happens all the time in the Netherlands, where a factory has gone bankrupt and fallen to the state, and a new owner (usually a non-profit foundation or museum) buys it for "one euro". BTW also in the Netherlands it occasionally happens (or rather, happened) that copper thieves stole whole pieces of overhead wire from railroads. And a few months ago scrapping thieves stole an antique iron footbridge in either England or Romania, I don't remember. Tijmen
