|  | | | I've found this abandoned building here in Huntersville, NC, where I live, on Holbrooks Road. It looks like it could have been a school. It's next to a park, and a gym. I was wondering if anyone perhaps knew anything about it, and maybe how to get into it to do some splorin'?! Please let me know guys.

The first thing when it comes to exploring a building is scouting it out. I don't know if it's very likely that people could give you tips for entry on here besides what I've just said

There you go--that's what you need to ask! Find out if anyone is in your area and would want to meet up and check out your location with you. Most of the time, however, you need to find people on your own and PM them, rather than posting a public thread.

Indeed. There is no problem in the world that can't be solved with a suitable application of high explosives. However, sound may be of a concern in Huntersville.... Might tip off local LE of your activities... There are many, many ways to breach with minimal evidence/noise. As was said previously: You have to perform your own recon... Even if somebody's been there before, things change. Knowledge is power.

Plus, maybe it's just me, but I always feel better getting my own information of a location as well as what other people say. Getting recon for yourself is the best you can do, because everyone is different. What is one stable floor for one group could be a collapsing floor for the next, unfortunately.

Absolutely. There are few certainties in this circle... Each mission must be based on factual, current data that is pertinent to the entry team. Be safe. Be considerate. Be smart. Many moons ago saw some expeditions that really shouldn't have taken place. Fortunately, I was allowed to grow older and smarter before meeting an early demise/arrest. (Although I have ridden in the back of a cruiser for my clandestine activities on more than one occasion!) ;)

...and perhaps my vernacular belies my age. I have been doing this since most on this forum were born, probably. It wasn't called urbex, ue, or the like. In fact, the only name it had was whatever you were charged with if caught. Usually something like criminal trespass. I called it Industrial Spelunking. That's what it was. Abandoned industrial complexes that had hallways, basements, roof ladders, towers, and sheer cliffs. I was reckless in my exploring. I went alone a lot of the times. (Still do, but with more awareness) Didn't do my recon. Made a lot of noise, etc. (Hence the cruiser rides) As I continued to develop and hone my skills, I took a logical and tactical approach. Now, I can access places most of you can not while maintaining my clear record and with minimal risk. (Hence the language)
My intent here is to peruse the findings of other like-minded people and perhaps even educate. I certainly do not wish to offend or seem condescending.

Stay away from that place. It was a school, and it is partially abandoned, but the abandoned portion houses (or at least used to) a couple tweakers. There's not much to see anyway.
Also, the town of Huntersville works out of the back portion. You get caught in there and you're going to big boy jail.
