Woah, the intro killed it! But I felt the entirety of the whole short draaaaaged for too long. Great interview, but just having one guy, who unfortunately was a very drawn out speaker did not help the piece move along at a good pace. Spruce it up with some of that style we saw in the opening! Break up what felt like a lecture with some cool little montages or something.

Looking forward to seeing more, though.

What did you use to edit the first bit?

This a very well done video, I enjoyed it but do agree that it dragged on a bit too much. That clip at the beginning is such a crazy contrast to the way it is now. Also the intro is pretty dope.

Great little piece, agree with the others. Title sequence really pulled me in, but the interview did push on a little. Looking forward to seeing more.

As much as I'd like to take full credit for the intro, I actually bought a premade after effects project and edited it to my needs. Thank you, interviewees are hard to find for this type stuff - but I felt that regardless of how drawn out the speaker was, it would add something that you never (or don't normally) see in UE videos. I toyed with adding some background music to balance out the monotonous voice and for the silent parts, but I couldn't find anything that works.

I'm pretty new to both photography and videography, and am actually doing them both at the same time during explores. This is probably my 3rd major video editing project, and it's all self-taught. I know it sounds like I'm giving excuses for making a crappy video haha, but really just explaining that I realize how much work I have to do. I'm going to be learning some more After Effects and will try to apply some cool effects to the next video.

(The intro and lower-thirds are both After Effects)

Thank you, I agree with you as well! I was really happy to find that commercial - I think it really helps put things into perspective, seeing before and after shots. I was thinking about recreating all of the shots in the commercial (same angles, etc) but that would probably be too difficult to get right. Thanks, wish I could take full credit for the intro!

I did something very similar to this. http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=104999

I'm at work so I can't re-watch the video right now, but from what I remember you just let the interview play out in it's entirety (correct me if I'm wrong), and if it doesn't, it sure feels that way.

Maybe try breaking it down into some of his more interesting points or facts. Or break up a hard hitting, reflective statement with some of your footage with no words to let the audience actually reflect on it.

Tighten up the video as much as possible. Or maybe instead of him giving the history, show us a history through newspaper clippings or a narrator, or an animated timeline?

Just some extra ideas for you. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more.

Oh woah, very well made video!! That was engaging throughout - it's sort of what I was going for, mixing old footage with new footage and interviews.

The interview was actually longer, but I had chopped it up and moved some pieces around to flow better. In the end, it was in 3 longgg sections though. I definitely understand exactly what you're talking about by breaking it down into more interesting points or facts as well as silence after hard hitting statements. I just felt like the interview was kind of dry to begin with - there wasnt much hard hitting facts there besides the BMW biker convention with 3300 bikes.

I plan on including newspaper clippings and the like in my other videos, and I would love to narrate - but I hate hearing my voice on camera. I had played with the idea of narrating my videos and doing some tweaks to "mask" the voice. Maybe I will try it on a future video.

Thanks for all the ideas - I really appreciate them!

Check out this site... you can find a bunch of options in regards to narrators (and other cool things). You can pay somebody $5 to narrate your short film; that's actually what we did with the intro to our short about the Gingerbread Castle, because none of our voices were fitting for that kind of role.

I know about fiverr, bought a couple gigs before but was never impressed with the quality. Now that I look at the narration / voiceovers - looks like there is some real talent here! Thanks! I guess I'll try it out for my next video, just need to figure out what kind of voice / accent to choose!

It is a bit difficult but its worth a try. I tried to retake a shot I found in that resort's brochure, not the best but it gives a nice contrast.

Oh woah, thats really good! I meant to say video shots, but this definitely works as well! Was this taken from the main office / "club house" roof?

Knew Bob and his family for years, thanks for the interview. Video was okay, could have been longer with more inside footage. But not bad overall, keep up the good work.
