Large Train Loading Yard in HR- PIC HEAVY < on 11/8/2012 1:34 AM >
Yeah, I know. I said I'd keep all of my crap in the other thread for now, but Sope and I explored this a few weeks ago and it's too big to not have it's own thread.
Not sure when this was built(my guess would be near the turn of the century), but I do know that it has been abandoned since the mid-late 1960s. Sadly, it is very heavily deteriorated. Years of exposure, vandalism, gunshots, scrappers, and squatters have taken their toll. Hard to believe this place is hiding in a very populated area. There are three buildings, but we only explored two of them.

Posted by kkor Beautiful location and pictures man, I'd love to know more of the history about this site it's positively sublime.
My google-fu is usually very strong, but I just can't crack this one. Closest I got to any real info was a photo of a train on the tracks, all you can see is the building on the right side. I didn't take this photo.

Posted by heresyrgb I've been doing my best as well, and this place's history remains elusive. Hopefully it surrenders it's secrets sooner, rather than later.
Anaklusmos and I found bank checks and other paperwork with the name of the original location today.
There are also 2 other buildings there I think you missed...plus the concrete plant. That took some effort to get up close, but its worth it. Especially when we can go back at night to climb the tower.
Get in while you can, these buildings are gonna go down soon to make way for a highway. FUMBLE!!!
