Boston-area explorers: article on UE, would love to hear stories+insight!

Hey all,

My name's Sarah and I'm a freelance writer/student in Boston. I'm writing a feature-length article on both the abandoned bear dens at the Franklin Park Zoo and urban exploration, and I'm looking for people who would like to speak with me and share their experiences and thoughts on the activity. The article is mainly for a class, and locations & names are being handled sensitively. I'm partway through my research/interviews and am entering crunchtime, so if anybody is interested, it would be greatly appreciated!

Secondly, I'm interested in going adventuring myself, and am looking for possible exploring buddies to team up with a friend and me.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

-Sarah

Ah, the infamous Franklin Park Zoo bear dens.

Those were abandoned in 1983 after a bear named Woozy mauled a park guest. I recall that they guest was a 32-year-old guy who tried taunting it with a bag of berries. Woozy got an extra helping of protein with his berries that day. They euthanized Woozy the next week, but couldn't find any other bears to fill the cages (having been given a bad reputation for what was dubbed the Woozy Incident).

So there they sit, waiting for another bear to fill the gaping void left by Woozy.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

*Therrin puts on the penguin suit*

*waddles up to "Sarah" and wraps his flippers around her, puts his beak on her shoulder*

*notices the soft lines of her body pressing against his downy feathers, the tenderness of her curves*

*Therrin pulls his beak back and tries to make the forever-penguin shape against her nose*

*having had no luck, Therrin slides on his belly to the nearest split in the ice and disappears from sight*

you could pretty much ask anyone who has a dog or goes running/walking about the bear dens and the other old remnants of the original zoo. i lived in jp for 13 years...the place isn't a secret.
