| | | I saw an article in the pioneer press about this place. I havent been inside it yet so I dont know if its any good. But the article mentions Urban explorers and squatters in their case to take it down being that there were 500 calls to the police about it since 2004. They even post links to a couple UE websites. Doesnt look like theyre moving to fast on it though. http://www.twincit...per-miffed-at-city [last edit 10/13/2012 6:12 AM by OryonsOracle - edited 1 times]

Let's be honest - you're just upset that TCUR got the shout out and they didn't include a comic of yours in the article.

| | | The article specifically says it will NOT get torn down anytime soon. Title is misleading.. An average of 5 calls a month to police is not terribly alarming. What a stupid fact. [last edit 10/14/2012 2:11 AM by rlx - edited 1 times]

I have to wonder how many of those calls are even because of explorers.

Judging from the 5' wide trail from the sidewalk, through the fence, and to the building--probably most of them. Instagram should buy add space on that fenceline...

| | | A few locals took a look and there are some dumpsters that were, until recently, filled with scrapped steel from the building. They're also doing asbestos removal inside, which sucks because getting interior pictures just got a whole lot harder. However, it sounds like it's plans for renovation, than demolition. It's sad to lose the building in it's current state, but it's exciting to see it being re-appropriated for something else.

As of 2 or 3 years ago, there were plenty of homeless folks who helped create the trails with their foot traffic. Despite what you may think, not everything related to abandoned buildings is connected to urban exploring. Although, I suppose you could expand the definition of urban exploring beyond white middle class suburbanites and include homeless folks. I mean, they're exploring all the goddamned time. And living for free to boot! Revolutionaries to the maxxX (action)!

| | | I think the scrappers and hobos would take offense to your elitist attitude that you don't consider them real urban explorers.
