| | | Lots of cool abandoned homes in the smoky mountains national park. Fighting the rain to get these shots. Hope to go back to check more out soon. Some of these are tourist spots open to the public, but still pretty cool nonetheless. Definitely a lot of history here. 1.

| | | this recent? heard they were going to demolish the buildings?
The nightmare corpse-city of R'lyeh…was built in measureless eons behind history by the vast, loathsome shapes that seeped down from the dark stars. There lay great Cthulhu and his hordes, hidden in green slimy vaults. |

| | | I have seen some of those buildings before I just dont remember where at. The buildings that are dilapidated, I think those were once summer homes and a resort before the park was created. I just recall that about 3 or 4 years ago they were discussing plans to demolish them but I think they instead chose to let them naturally decompose back into nature.

Yeah those are Elkmont, there used to be a huge hotel up there as well, but it burned down in 07 I think. So many of the park around here swallowed up old little towns and remote houses.

Actually, they've decided to restore the historically significant ones (18 out of 74) and demolish the rest. http://parkplannin...fm?projectID=15794 Note that these docs are from 2009 and as of this summer, no demolition had occurred. Makes me glad that bureaucratic wheels spin slowly From this summer...
