Along Highway 99, this was a restaurant, cocktail lounge, dinner theater, gift shop and later had live country and western music.

It's been closed for over 20 years.

Except for the last shot, the interior was almost completely dark.

Last time I was on the way back from Arizona I took 99 up from Bakersfield to 152. Saw a lot of potential targets of opportunity. I wanted a few more days on that trip to stop and stick my nose in everywhere that looked interesting. But I had my wife and son with me, and they weren't having any of it.

It's only "the 5" south of "the grapevine". 99 is always "99", or "hwy 99", never "the 99". Same with "the 101", but the dividing line is not as clear. Certainly north of Cuesta Grade it's first name (the) is dropped.

It's a NorCal thing...

Really neat photos

We must not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we began and to know the place for the first time.

If I'm heading to LA, I hit "the 5" right outside of the East Bay.
