The Green Monster

The Green Monster is a Chevrolet dealership in Tulsa, Oklahoma that has been abandoned for quite sometime. Going by the dates on documents I have read there, its been empty since the mid 70's. Clearly people have been there since then but in a business capacity, it looks like someone just had stuff stored there. There are many weird hallways that lead from room to room, and several rooms with bookshelves that open to reveal another room behind it. One of the coolest parts of this place is that, the service department is on the third floor. There was an elevator on the first floor that took the cars to the third floor to be serviced. After servicing they exited a ramp on the roof, to the roof of the building next door, which was across the alley. Once on that roof there was another ramp that led to the ground. Amongst the things I found were an old Ford, a trolley bus, every board game made in the 70's, dressers, headboards, and tons of other miscellaneous stuff. Not the kind of stuff you would expect to find in a car dealership. There is a shuttle service in the downtown area that used the garage on the first floor to store their shuttle busses at night, but during the weekdays the drivers usually leave the bay doors open which is how I got in. I love this place and have been here many times, and I always find something new every time I go. There are 49 pictures here, which I narrowed down from hundreds. Hope you enjoy!

1. Some very talented person carved this speckle breasted hummingbird on the side of the building using a razor blade. They left part of the paint to give it a 3d look. I took shots from different angles because it seemed to distort the shape of the wings.

Nice, very nice! With me working at a dealership, I can't imagine what a pain in the ass it was to get the cars in and out for service.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

I went by the other day and did the Bum Camp Ballerina post, and the car is gone now. Piano is still there though.

Very nice!
