Harpers Ferry Odds 'n' Ends

Just some stuff that I didn't shoot enough of to warrant individual threads:

Potomac Power Plant, ran until 1991.

Mill headrace on Virginius Island

Ruins of the first St. John's Episcopal Church

Some other old church

Two shots of the old high school, now used for storage by the NPS

C&O Canal lock 35

Canal boat repair slip at lock 35

Several shots of an extremely overgrown lock house at lock 36

Still has some of the original plaster and paint on the inside

Spillway of the ruined Shenandoah Pulp Factory, one of many, many stone ruins in the immediate area

Stone house at lock 33, from a non-touristy vantage point

And lastly, my sojourn to the top of the facade of the Maryland Heights train tunnel:

The way up

Tunnel and train

I've only been to Harpers Ferry one time and stopped for a bit while passing through, It was nice but I would've enjoyed it more if it wasn't ridiculously cold and I had some warmer clothes on. Nice shots.

Cool shots! How long is that headrace? Is the mill still there too?

It's rather short, only about two hundred feet or so. Only the foundation of the mill is still extant.

Harpers Ferry, right in the Lower Town. It's great to hear that there are other people in the immediate area on this site! =)

Sweet! Posts like these make me kind of depressed with the lack of history in my immediate vicinity.

Sorry to pull this topic back from the grave, but I didn't want to make a whole new post just for this farmhouse I shot over the weekend. I also wanted to use the opportunity to welcome vertebraes to the site, since he came with me on this one.
