Point & Shoot & Explore

I have by no means abandoned my dslr, but I am trialing a canon s90 as an very day camera or a rig for when I need to be less conspicuous. I met JackAttack and his lady Mackenzie for an explore of an old paper mill. Armed with only a point and shoot and a little table-top tripod, I shot the mill, it was strangely liberating not having a bulky camera back-pack and tripod to lug around, but I did feel rather naked without the d800.....

Anyway, here are a few shots from Sunday's explore.

The composition of Inside the Mill I is great. Mill II and the spiral staircase are really nice too, and have a gritty quality that enhances their impact.

Thanks Weirdling! I think the mini table-top tripod forced me to re-think how I usually shoot. I couldn't simply set up the giant tripod in the middle of a room and line up a shot, really had to use the environment if I wanted anything beside a low angle...

well, i doubt that very much Skye, I thinking taking the point and shoot was actually a good exercise for me, had to think about how to get the most from a little camera and a little tripod without resorting to using the flash, had to compose differently and it made me slow down and observe more too...

so where can i see a gallery of your stuff? the link on your signature takes me to a page, but it says "denied"

Thank you Ed! In a way you are kind of one of the people that lead to my decision to try a point and shoot and seriously reconsider how I shoot while exploring, Thanks again Ed, I got to get down to Philly to hang out and explore sometime...

Thanks for sharing. Do you have any more photos from the top floor of "A Bright Future"? I'm envious, btw - I was specifically denied access to "unfinished" portions (attic and basement) of the Second Empire house I posted the other day, as the owner only wanted the "pretty" portions recorded for posterity...

Nice set, dude! I particularly like 4, 5, and 11. There was something special around every corner of this place, I can't wait to get back.
