In an attempt to keep this post under 25 photos, this is the "abridged" version!

1.For safety reasons, the bridge was dropped in segments over the span of several days. I couldn't make it out for every blast, but I did make it to a few sessions.

2. BOOM. This was mid-blast before the left edge had disconnected.

3. Smoke cloud. Did it drop?

4. Yep. It dropped.

5. The other end, with road still connected.

6. This was a truly awesome sight. I am still glad I was able to see it, and glad there was no security stopping me from checking out all the destruction.

7.

8.

9.

10.

11.

12. Thousands of common brown bats called this bridge home. While exploring the rubble I heard this high pitched screeching coming from under a huge piece of concrete. This guy was trapped underneath.

13. Being the awesome person I am, I picked him up by his wingtips and threw him into the air, hoping he would fly. He certainly did! Unlike this guy there were hundreds of dead bats amongst the debris. I was really saddened they hadn't done more to relocate these animals before this was done.

14. Sup dude!

15.

16.

17.

18.

19. For years foot traffic could use this staircase to get to the surface of the bridge, Eventually it was closed off, way before the bridge was destroyed.

20. Poor little fella.

21. Blast hole.

22.

23.

24.

25. The next segment, and the news crew.

26. Grounded.

27. Hope you enjoyed!

I own you, don't I?

Seriously...why was no thought given to this?

That's awesome you got to check the site out. My dad took me to a controlled demolition when I was a kid, I'll never forget it.

Most of the time Bats are never given that respect. Unless they are endangered and laws make them have to. They are treated with a lot of bad attitude and not the respect they deserve.

Great shots!
