Ski lodge--tens of thousands of $$ in equipment

A couple years ago, I made a very significant discovery that would get a shit-ton of attention (though largely due to making the mistake of taking a Vice Magazine writer along for the ride): http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=28233

On both trips, someone in my group would look up the hill and wonder about a dilapidated-looking building up there. Both times, I said it was best to focus on the matter at hand, because holy Christ, but recently it was revealed to me what I wasn't so interested in: an abandoned ski resort.

1. This is pretty well what we had seen in 2009 and 2010, which at the time I wrote off as a dilapidated parking garage.

2. I take some solace in the fact that I was right about what they saw being a parking garage.

3. Of course, the parking garage was blocking the view of the other buildings, including the lodge.

4. And the snow crawler.

5. Probably not the brightest footwear choice, but it was raining heavily that day.

6. Oh look, they still have some ski boots left. Let's see, considering that a cheap pair costs $100 new, and maybe you could sell them for $50 used (for the sake of easier math), this is about $2500 worth of ski boots right here.

7. Not the nicest of equipment, I know.

8. Anyone wanna count up skis?

9. Also, that one shelf I photographed: multiply it by around 80.

10. All right! Who wants to hit the slopes?

11. Tubular!

12. What's that you say, no snow? Hold on, someone just give me a little bit of gasoline.

13. Ah, the countryside.

That's a lot of skis. Get yourself a big truck and an ebay account.

You should have thrown the boots all over the floor, so that some other UER people could spend a day replacing them on the shelves and make a thread about it, and future explorers could enjoy a falsely genuine experience.

11 is one of the super raddest portraits of all. I'm coming here, getting my own mask, and stealing the shot.

Yes!

This is too awesome. I'd say the nail in the sandal was worth it.

Good idea, but instead I'm working on taking a dump in every single boot. I'm about 1/3 done, so it'll take a couple more trips.

Great shots, although I wouldn't judge this play on the amount of money left there. But then again, I like art..

Yeah, I'm sure the used price would be much much lower, but it's still so much that it would be a ton of money no matter what. Probably what would be the most cost-effective strategy for a scavenger would be to use them to open a rental shop.

The snowcat was in good condition, cracked windshield notwithstanding.
