| | The government killed my photos < on 8/20/2012 1:09 PM >
| | | I had to delete my SD card when the fuzz stopped me for taking shots of a petroleum refinery at night. Had to decide between deleting the whole card in case he poked a few images back and found a bunch of a half finished nuclear reactor... It was a tough choice, but at least I have been able to recover a large number of the files. The rest have preview thumbnails that look okay (in picasa) but the actual CR2 files are corrupted, the ones I can open have purple squares that take up some to most of the image. Anyone ever have luck recovering corrupted CR2 files? I didn't do anything other than choose to delete all files on my t2i then turn off the camera.

| | | That sucks. I always swap out cards in between places just in case. Hopefully you are able to recover your stuff.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

| | | That sucks a lot. Make a habit of uploading your photos and formatting your cards after each outting.

Not a bad idea. I'd pick up one of these though =] A micro SD card would be easier to swallow and pass, but a bit messy for retrieval. In all seriousness, I've never had an issue with corrupted files. I've formatted cards before and been able to recover everything no problems - aside from a ebay CF card that I suspect was counterfeit. Usually if you format the card and leave it in the camera there should be no issues. If you hit format and took the card out before it was finished that could corrupt things or if you shot 50 photos afterwards it would write data over the 1st so many photos. Did you try Lexar image rescue yet? http://www.lexar.c...tware?category=213
