Dust to Ashes to Dust

This place has been a long time haunt for me, and it's changed a lot like so many other locations over the years. I think I've shot this place with every camera I've ever had, so the shots here are diverse.

1.

Last dated paperwork I found said 1998. I first walked in around May of 2004 and although a lot of the production equipment was gone, a ton of stuff was still left behind. Power was still on, display cases were still full, and the toilets still worked. There's something to be said about exploring while the electrical equipment is still buzzin'!

In late 2005 the power was shut off and all the pipes froze and broke that winter. After that, everything just started to go downhill until the site was eventually purchased and work was started to clean things up for future use.

6.

Unfortunately in 2007 the older portion burned to the ground while in the process of being renovated for apartments.

7.

8.

Some sections had gotten hit pretty hard by the fire while others remained almost completely untouched.

I thought this was ironic.

Within the past year things have been getting cleaned up to resume the work started back before the fire.

Eventually this will all be closed off and occupied in some form or another.

Thanks for viewing.

19 is just wonderful!

it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.

These are absolutely beautiful photos. What captures my interest most is the lighting, I noticed it at first in 7 but it also really stands out in 17. The way the light hits different facades is displayed really well here, and really draws me into the photos.

As usual I picked out a few favorites...then there were more...then there were too many and I lost track and forgot. It's your fault...nice set!

Thanks again guys. 17 has to be my favorite from the set. I'm a sucker for shallow DOF and I think anything structural combined with plants looks cool.
