Local landmark I have drooled over for years but due to the fact that there is a security guard and alarm watching over this beauty I was unable to get in...Until today, after a few weeks of research and phone calls. This is a few unedited shots, I will post more once I go through them all. Enjoy!1.

The top two floors of the tower actually houses two large water tanks for the sprinkler system, old school gravity feed design. The building is about to go under renovations and the system is still active therefore the door leading to the top was locked. Because it was such a pain to gain access to the building itself and the lady who allowed me to enter was super cool I decided it was best not to break the lock.

The stairs were amazing. And "huge" doesn't begin to describe this place. Its 547,000 sq ft. Six stories with a full basement and fallout shelter. When it was built in 1912 it was the worlds largest industrial manufacturer under a single roof. In 1929 there was a union strike which resulted in the deaths of three people including the chief of police for the city, the owners were from Soviet Russia and three of the four fled from the country and were never convicted of the crimes. Renovations are scheduled to begin as soon as September, there will be 190 apartments, conference hall, restaurants, and rental spaces for stores. I am actually glad that they are doing something with it instead of tearing it down, there is so much history with in the walls.

This may be the first pic of a model with a firearm I've ever seen where trigger discipline is in full effect.

AMAZEBALLS. Glad you had the fortitude to figure out a legit way in before they start renovating! Can't wait to see more.

Beauty. I hope they retain the historic quality of the place when renovations are done.

They actually have an apartment set up on the first floor that was built 16 yrs. ago, but at the time failed to pass the department of interior design standards. The contractor who was hired to construct the apartment destroyed the face of the brick during the sand blasting process which lead to the failing of the original plan. The windows they are using look amazing and keep the original look and design. Here is a link to a .pdf giving some details of the renovation.

Gorgeous shots. Thank you for sharing the rest. Glad they are doing something with the building instead of razing it.
