Hello all, I am new here but it is great that there is a site for Urban Explorers (Although back in the day we just called it checking out abandoned buildings lol.) You all seem like well informed lovers for this art and it is awesome. Anyways here is are some snaps of my visit to the Kings Park Psychiatric Center.

This place at one point held almost 10,000 patients at one time, and it date backs to the late 1800s. It was known for its more civil treatment of patients, although they did experiment with Shock Therapy and lobotomies for a short bit in the 50's. It even developed its own urban legend with Molly Hatchet. While that may or may not be a myth, it is a fact that more than a few patients killed themselves while there. If for some reason the pics I uploaded dont show I also included a link to the full set of pics. Feel free to check them out and let me know what ya think, good or bad.

excellent cheers for the post....some people would rubbish the place due to damage and weathering but for me places of this size are great to run around in...especially alone...i like the rush of thinking i could be murdered by some unbalanced psychopath

not kidding either

i have been through similar at least twice now alone....and it is very atmospheric..whatever floats ya boat.

Cool place. I really enjoyed some of the pictures of the outside on your Flickr. I like how plants have started to grow over the buildings.

Thanks for the kind words Urban and Hat, it is a shame they are tearing the place down now. Looks like I will have to find a new playground to play in lol.

Very nice looking outing, you had. Some good shots there.

Happy exploring,

Jakob

Well ya better go soon they plan on tearing 12 of the buildings up in a couple weeks. It is a very cool place to check out with easy entry. The place is in a state park and most buildings have an open door floating around somewhere.

This is something u don't want to post in an open forum. Google and other bots catch this and post it on the web. Now there probably going to shut the doors all up lol.

If you've never been to KPPC, now is the time to go.
