Yellow Lens Application to Eyewear for Underground Exploration

When it comes to underground, low-light or dark areas - what kind of lens do you use? I know that clear is the go-to lens for dark locations, but I would like to see opinions from anyone who has experience with the type of "lightening up" tint; like yellow or vermilion.

I understand that a lens tint itself can't use and manipulate light and actually apply it to dark corners to actually make the area brighter, but I was wondering if the colored lens is able to coat surfaces with a more noticeable color that allows hard-to-see places to become more visible. I tried this with a yellow lens recently and it did make the store brighter, but I was in a fully-lit rrroom, so I couldn't really tell for dark rrrooms.

I am asking mostly for the yellow lens, because I am buying a pair of safety glasses for low-light conditions and all of the true clear lens I've have had not protected my view from glare, only UV protection..

All of the eyewear I have is for outside and sunny conditions, like grays and brown. They help with glare and contrast, especially the brown, but they make the rrrooms too dark.

I haven't found a very lightly-tinted lens that helped with glare and keeping my vision un-darkened. I think a 'high-definition yellow' would fit this need.
'High-definition yellow' is the color of lens that the eyewear I'm looking at (ha) is called. See picture:

I know it's a bit of a weird request for opinion, but glasses are something I have an interest in, and I would really like to know your experiences with these type of glasses in low places.

Also: all discussions I've read about yellow lens and its visibility uses have been in driving or bicycling groups, not those who descend. So here's to a first, cheers.

Well each manufacturer's exact tint for a colored lens is different; there is no set standard for a "yellow lens", so it's a matter of actually holding the lens and looking through it yourself.

Finding with and without photos for tints is such a pain, though. It's near to impossible to locate any type of reference online for it.

There are those "magic glasses" or whatever that change from tinted to clear... heh.

After the sun sets the majority of the visible light left is in the blue spectrum (in fact after twilight is affectionately called the Blue Hour) Now, hunters shooting glasses are often tinted yellow because it filters out the blue tones and gives you more contrast in the very low contrast natural blue light. Which is also why wearing dark blue or dark grey at night camouflages you best against the environment.

Here is a link to shooting glasses: http://www.allabou...ports/shooting.htm

As far as underground exploration, underground suggests the only light you're going to have is artificial unless you're using a blue filtered flashlight you're going to want to have clear lenses or no lenses.
