why don't you look up the ssc on Google, since you like it so much. And by the way I was kidding, I don't like your map.

No not the Swedes, the SSC is the superconducting super collider, 54 miles of underground bike path and holy grail of southern UE.

Sorry, we don't take many pictures because we get pretty wet on the rides, but here's the only one i took last week. this guy's tires are HUGE, allowing him to go through a muddy tunnel that the rest of us could not.1.

Explaining to a family fishing and cooking out on the riverbank what we were doing coming out of this drain with bicycles in a raft made for a good story.

sorry, i drifted away from the forum for a minute. are you in the fort worth area Mellon_Collie? i think i found the main drain that goes under Downtown, but the entrance is at least 3-4' deep, and i don't have a portable raft. would you be interested in scoping it with or for me? or at least giving me some more info on your bike/raft set up?

I think I know the drain you're talking about, look about a thousand feet to the Southwest and you'll find the other end, the water there is only ankle deep. follow the stream southwest some more and you'll find the rest of the system. Its not the main drain for Downtown, you've already biked that one, but its the main drain for southeast Fort Worth and goes near the train station and convention center.

this is the one i was referring to. http://goo.gl/maps/Gyi8a

i once poked my head up near henderson and 10th, coming in from the tunnels near the chesapeake building, but i didn't think those side tunnels went all the way to the center parts of downtown. are you saying they do?

1. pre-race briefing

2. spoke card

oh yeah, the big tunnel race was an amazing success! we only had 10 guys willing to actually race, but we had 50+ other cyclist cheering us on at the finish line! everyone had a great time. here was the course: http://goo.gl/maps/k8JT6 there were check points in the tunnels and along the course where you had to get a sticker (different at each check point) to prove you rode the whole thing. i won't be leading anymore tunnel rides until late next spring, but i'm planning on an "abandoned building race" late winter. i have a couple of location possibilities, but i would love to discuss those or other possibilities with anyone willing. i know y'all have a "leave no trace" policy, and in full disclosure, i will be leaving a "trace", but i have no intention of destroying private property, or doing anything that would devalue that which doesn't belong to me. nothing more than marking paint, caution tape, and clearing a path. please message me if you'd like to share/discuss. thanks!

Ah, yeah; I don't live in Texas anymore (sorry to say). Otherwise I totally would have raced with you guys. Even have a decent mountain-racing bike at my parent's place still. The rafts were Noah's--they weren't anything special. Probably from walmart or some big outdoor store. Certainly nothing fancy. I've seen all sorts of macgyver'd drain floatation devices though, so you don't need to necessarily go out and buy some. There's a couple of drains in the DFW area you could float down too. The round innertubes work great for a case of beer

C.H.U.D lol

damn that looks cool.

The nightmare corpse-city of R'lyeh…was built in measureless eons behind history by the vast, loathsome shapes that seeped down from the dark stars. There lay great Cthulhu and his hordes, hidden in green slimy vaults.

Very cool!
I ride drains in Dallas but always alone.
Anyone doing anything similar over here? I'd love to have some alternate traffic free above and below ground routes.

I'm a blatant waste of time and resources.
