Yeah, I'm 'That Guy'.
| | Contacts in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide < on 6/21/2012 1:43 AM >
| | | Hi folks. I am looking for UE related contacts in Australia's east coast. I've been exploring in Europe for a while and want to check some stuff out here. In return I can give information about sites in most of the US, Canada, and Europe including the Paris, Rome and Odessa catacombs, Pripyat, Chernobyal, London abandoned tube stations, Glasgow abandoned tunnels, New York Subway,Cincinnati subway, college tunnels, Park River drain, LA drains and more. My time is limited, so I'm after genuine people. I've sent off a few emails to what UE groups I could find, but had no responses in 2 weeks. I do have a Google Earth file listing a lot of drains and topside stuff, but much of it has not been updated for years so I'm looking for current information. Yes, I know that all comes across as pretty demanding. If some one asked me that and were a newbie I'd probably tell them "stuff you Jack!" but I have tried contacting groups via email, and now I have little time to wait. Also I can handle myself fine in any sort of UE situation, having explored over 100 drains, hundreds of abandoned buildings, 30 abandoned underground stations, about 50 bunkers, a couple of missile silos, the Paris, Rome and Odessa Catacombs (missed out on Naples!) and some other bits and pieces. Any one want to explore? I'm all for it. But am limited to weekends and public transport.
Yes, *THAT* guy. |

i want photos = ten different drains, ten different abandoned buildings, 10 underground stations, 5 bunkers, a missile silo and a picture of dsankt without a baby face, and maybe a picture of a homeless person sniffing glue at a bus stop. then we open a dialogue. | | | There are a few Australians on here, but you'd probably get a better response if you linked to something that shows a bit of background. Do you have a blog or flickr account or something?

Eh I would say a few people could claim that. Siolo being one of them. If he hasn't met or know of this person I call BS. Bullshit will come out in the wash once someone meets the person. I would think someone who has done that much exploring would have pretty good contacts and should be able to hook stuff up in Australia but hey its sometimes pretty hard to hook up with people OS. I found out last year that most people couldn't give two shit about showing a visitor the sites. One great thing about Australia and especially Melbourne's UE ecene is that great sense of community and willingness to show people what we have to offer exploring wise. Pretty much centered around the Cave Clan and the good community it is and has been for years. Anyone from OS who has been here will back this up guaranteed. I wish OS (Europe mainly) didn't have such a closed elitist bunch of people not willing to show visitors the dope shit. peace and hopefully I am proved wrong next year when I hit up EU again. | | | if you show him melb schnitzel then surely with all his dope experience he can hook you up with the madzor shit overseas.
you are right though, with that much experience it is 'odd' he can't hook up here without posting on this site...i am frequently wrong but, he's probably the bear grylls of international exploring.

| | | Thanks guys. Got the info and contacts I need. Piip your comment "I wish OS (Europe mainly) didn't have such a closed elitist bunch of people not willing to show visitors the dope shit." is somewhat ironic given the comments in this thread. Still I will be back in Europe soon, what would you like to see?

| | | Since someone in this thread needs to act maturely: The mod/admin staff should probably chime in here and clarify whether there have been changes to policies on handling banned users. If the user who started this thread has had a discussion with admin and been unbanned, they should be associated with their old account. If they haven't, then history indicates that their new account should also be banned. Having once been banned myself, I mean no ill will towards the user in question. But moderation and administrative clarity has been slow-to-non-existent here for the last year or so, and it would be nice to see these forums moderated with a little more alacrity again.

| | | Hand-wringing posts in threads crying about a need for action, and hoping a moderator notices, are of little value, Kowalski. If you genuinely note something that needs attention, use the Contact a Moderator section. There will always be those who insist that UER is moderated by nazis (Hi, Doug!), and those like you who feel things are too lax. I for one prefer moderation to be minimally intrusive, unless people have a genuine problem. So, if there is a genuine problem, tell us, and we can address it. Moderators are just janitorial staff - we rely on our community to alert us when there's a cleanup needed on aisle five.
- - So, specifically on this thread: I can't help but notice that you posted this after Doug (Hi Doug!) alerted the drainers board to the guy's identity. Why come into this thread immediately after, and write as though

Claiming maturity and lamenting a decline in administrative clarity is at best chest-puffing pomposity if you provide no useful information to effect resolution. You're not a dumb guy; you know what you're doing. Stop worrying about how you look on forums, and stick to making useful contributions, like you do in the drainers board, and maybe we can return to the heady days of alacritous moderation.
