Hello Urbexers...
Me and a friend are going to Ukraine soon (3 weeks, June and July), and will be exploring the Zone and Pripyat area, as well as the Odessa catacombs.
We're looking in particular for a contact in the region for hints and tips, or even assistance if he/she would like to tag alone.
We're experienced hikers, and well equipped for the trip.
what we are most interested in are safe routes to the Zone from Kiev, as well as police/military checkpoints and guard routines around the Zone.
As for Odessa catacombs, we simply need a pointer to the best unofficial entrance. Oh, and we need to go shopping for wet-wear for the catacombs, so any pointers to where in Odessa we can get some waterproof pants, boots etc. that would be of extreme help.
Will be filming both trips in Double full HD 3D, as well as full HD for underwater footage in the catacombs if we get the oportunity to dive in there, and if water is clear.
Will provide Blu-ray 3D copies for whoever wants to come along either places.
Might decide to do Odessa catacombs before Pripyat, since the risk of getting caught and expelled is less. If we get kicked out of Ukraine before our trip to Odessa; the trip will be ruined. 
Need quick feedback. We will be leaving soon.

I've read that the govt. are trying to seal off entrances, and I bet it would be difficult for us as non-locals to simply walk around and by coincidence stumble upon a good entrance point. 
We would greatly appreciate any input concerning access points.

There is a guy who hangs out in a little one room bar in town. He can help you.
You'll have to evade the military blockade in the train yard, but should be able to eventually ride most of the way in on a work car.
It is very important that you take a large quantity of metal nuts with you. Tie little strips of cloth to them so that you can see the effects when you toss them ahead of you as you get deeper into the Zone.

I've got some GPS coordinates of some entrances if you have no luck. Mind you,I just did the tourist tunnels then wandered around locally and found some entrances. Plus I have a crap drawn map of the area I was in, not drawn by me mind you.

That would be absolutely awesome.
I was almost ready to give up this thread. We're leaving the country in a matter of days, and although we will not travel directly to Odessa; I will not be able to check mail and forums very much.
I too was considering locating the tourist-trap, and then explore the area surrounding looking for an actual entrance.
Your coordinates will save us allot of time though, so I appreciate it very much.
I have yet to hear back from Eugene, so I guess we will be on our own. It will be an adventure none the less.
Please just send me a PM or e-mail with the coordinates. And thanks allot!
