Rocket Train

Went and visited my brother in Huntsville a little while back, and ended up taking a wrong turn on the way home. So I decided to drive around a little bit and came across these three little cars. Since I was craving an explore I decided to walk on down the tracks and check them out. I could only get into one of the cars, the other two were locked down tight.

I may have gone a little overboard with the number of pictures taken, but I really miss being able to explore our trains.

Very nice. I think "retired unfit for service", the one after and the last are great shots.

love me some random train cars!

You should have driven down the road beside the tracks going the other direction. There you would have found a bunch of cars,a couple of locomotives, hell, a whole functioning train as well as an old train station.

No, no fucking facepalm needed, it is a museum, you can ride the son of a bitch if you call taking an industrial diesel locomotive and a few lack luster cars less than a half a mile away from the station till the track dead ends then back tracking the same path a ride.

The pics in this post are of the shop they work on cars in and some junk cars they don't want on the station grounds, the tracks were pulled up long ago with a tiny amount connected to some active ones in the event more cars or locomotives are donated. It is well known and well patrolled and in no danger.

do you know what UEing is about? Its not about going to a museum. If that's your idea of UEing then I will gladly post the pictures of my son and I at the children's museum.

I never implied that it was UEing at all, where do you get that? I only wanted to let you know there was more of the same near by (you were looking in the dumpster) as well as to defend the fact that I didn't reveal directions to some hidden away gem to be ravaged which I would have good reason to assume netted me a facepalm reply.

I gave no more tips to the location than you did though it doesn't matter since the signs on the gates say you are more than welcome to park and walk around the locked gates from 9am-4pm any old day you want for a self guided tour just don't walk on the tracks or climb on any of the junk.

As far as pics of your son at a children's museum I'll pass, thanks anyway! I never took my kid to a kid's museum as they are usually dumbed down to the point of being useless for anyone other than the absolute youngest or feebleminded, my kid went to general admittance functions and I took care of any needed explanation, costs more in time and money but well worth the effort.

Nice set, buddy =)

I'm such a sucker for trains.

And what do you mean you miss exploring your trains? You mean those epic ones we saw last summer up there?

Are they off limits now? If so, /sadpanda

yeah, when we went someone created a Facebook check in page. My uncle works for the folks who own the trains and rails and according to him they found out about the check in page and people were going over there and scrapping them. So they locked the access points down pretty tight and they have cameras and patrols now.

My uncle works for the people who own the trains. So I would recommend not doing it until I get word from him its safe. Just my two cents.

if i get caught there I wont mention knowing you, so don't worry. yes watch for the cameras, but it doesnt look like they are monitored 24/7. and its not like they are on the trains themselves as far as i can tell... more of there to check if something actually happens to them.

my "2 cents".
