|  | | | Out Oshawa/Scugog way to do some touristing and freestyling, we paid a visit to a pseudo island documented previously by some of our peers. No interiors beyond a boathouse, but the decayed statues, bird baths and fountains placed around the property hinted at past glories, and were worth the trip.

Jerm...here's what we found out...There is a sign on the boathouse saying that the Mississauga's of Scugog Island First Nation are not responsible for something or other blah blah...we were approached by a guy in a pickup truck asking if we were Mississauga's (Mississaugans?). We said no, just taking some pics. We said we had not noticed any no trespassing signs (standard fare). He said they were 'on order' (?), so I suspect they would be the owners of the property. I thought it was owned by artists?

Yes, it was. Coulda lingered longer but it was the last visit of a very long day with a long drive ahead to home. I hope these remnants are allowed to decay naturally for a long time. There were some deep tire ruts in the lawns so I'm not sure how much care is being taken (not to mention a feminine napkin stuck to the wall inside the boathouse...ugh).

We are also considering the old church at the Scugog Shores Museum up the road, which closed in 1950, as well as an abandoned church in the Havelock area.

I was there this past weekend with L'Ali and Banditt. The land is owned by first nations. We had a nice chat about it with the guy that lives on the grounds with his wife and son. They do lease the place out for events but you have to make arrangements and get permits from first nations which have an office not far from there. The guy was really cool, told us about the history of the place and was totally fine that we were there taking pics. He even told us that the sign saying the boathouse flooring was unsafe is bull.
