Historical information on The Geo W. Reed & Co. Foundry in Montreal, Quebec, seems almost non-existent on the internet. One website (UER) claims that it was built in 1895 and manufactured coaches for trains until its closure in 1982. The site also claims that the foundry played a significant historical role during the second world war, employing over a thousand people manufacturing parts for planes and tanks. These claims have not been substantiated.

These days, it is most commonly referred to as 'The Graffiti Factory'. The gutted remains of the 3 storey building are now home to an ever changing canvas of graffiti works by local, national and international artists...

Voilà ce que j'ai comme infos:
Statut: Désaffecté

Au 4107 de Richelieu, les bureau de la Babcock & Wilcox. Construite en 1910 et agrandie vers 1930, l'usine à l'arrière est techniquement dans Westmount, sans aucune autre issue que par Saint-henri. La majeure partie du bâtiment est cachée par des résidences car celui-ci n'a pas pignon sur rue. Ce fabricant américain de chaudières à vapeur existe encore même si elle a quitté les lieux dans les années 1930.

Dans les années 1940, c'est GEO.W Reed & Co Ltd, qui occupe les lieux. L'entreprise se spécialise dans les produits industriels de métal en feuille (toitures, portes, silos, réservoirs, etc...). Elle sera intégrée à Western Steel vers 1945... qui deviendra Westell-Rosco vers 1966. La vieille usine de Saint-Henri sera fermée en 196 pour se relocaliser à Baie d'Urfé. Dans les années 1970-1990, elle servira de complexe multi-industriel.

Vers 1999, on veut reconvertir les lieux en projets d'habitation mais sans succès. Les bureaux ont toujours été occupés. De 1980 à 2005, la compagnie Dominic Vadelà Rembourrage y loge. On parle de convertir les locaux à l'arrière en studios pour musiciens et les bureaux de la rue de Richelieu en condos.
