Signs,signs, everywhere the signs!

So today I decide to stop and checkout a abandoned farm house in the Sacramento Delta. I passed a few cars parked on the side of the levee road on my way in,and didn't see any "no parking" signs. I parked several hundred yards from the house on a decent little turnout. I parked, and proceeded to explore.
I have no history on the location, but is a small two story house. Most of the outside porches are rotted away, so I had to be careful on entry. Luckily someone had already "opened" up the backdoor, so I could walk right in. Suprisingly the floors were well intact, and the toilet was not vandalized. There was a small amount of graffiti, and odd sections of the floor cut out. I made it upstairs, but I could feel the whole floor moving under my feet, so I snapped a few quick pics and went back down.
As I descended the stairs I can hear a car honking its horn erratically. At first I thought nothing of it, but it continued. I decided to swiftly exit and see what was going on. As I climb back up the levee, a Chevy Tahoe drives by with its flashers on, and horn honking. When I get back on the street and start walking for my car, it flips a u-turn. It pulls up next to me and a lady begins yelling at me that I cannot park there. I reply that I didn't see any sign, and others were parked just up the road. She begins to "inform" me that there is ONE sign a half mile back up the road that states that parking on the shoulder is illegal, and that she has already contacted the authorities. I act like I should and sincerely apologize and state I did not see any signs and promise to be on my way. Fearing that CHP may arrive soon, I jump in the car and leave.
Since there was a (slim)chance I was "reported" I pulled out my camera and take pictures of the other cars up the road, and try to find this "sign". Just like she said, I find it a half mile down the road, but covered in graffiti. It is not legible in any way. I took multiple pictures of each just to cover my ass if something does come of it.(which I doubt)
Enjoy!

Good pics. I despise people like that... why in the world would she freak out about someone parking on the side of the road... It sounds immature, but I seriously would have told the lady to go fuck herself and ask her if she's got anything better to be doing... assuming you didn't have anything on you that would get you busted. If you act apologetic to people like that, if gives them a feeling of power that will just make them continue to be ridiculous assholes.

I can picture her now. "OH MY GOD THERE IS SOMEONE PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! ONLY TERRORISTS AND CHILD MOLESTERS PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD!"

+1

Before a big explore I like to work with leather. The Native Americans always said that working with hides and pelts releases the soul.

You should have tried to cones, it probably would have helped.

Never saw something like this, but I would have facepalmed, turn on the amber flashers I have in the back, put on my reflective vest and walked with my handheld GPS into the woods like a busy government employee.

And don't forget the cones, they worked fine with the other day when I was Geocaching, and we have a couple of people here that use them every time.

Thanks for all the replies. I think that moving forward I will plan my parking a little better. I do like the cone trick, but since I was in driving my wifes Scion XB, I dont think anyone would have fell for it.

university owned street so not funded by taxes

department of parking and roads can suck it anyway, i would need a whole thread to express the atrocities they commit. They towed an entire parking lot last week (>100 cars) for maintenance after emailing onlt the people who held permits since the year before. it cost 500 bucks to get your car back. I had them impound my motorcycle once for being too close to a residence hall. 900 dollars because it took (2 tow trucks to remove the vehicle). two out of shape biologists can pick up my damn motorcycle.

i should paint more signs, these bastards. and 200 bucks a pop soinds like someone is exploiting the municipalities, thats one hell of a markup on a steel sign

Wait until you get a reflective sign, than the price rockets.

Now in case you are caught, you know what will happen.

Besides vandalism just shows that you have no values at all.

I'm confused about what all the honking was. Was she beeping at your parked car?
