Adventures with the SO's sprog

So yeah, life throws you curve balls. Mine is a tiny little brunette with two kids. No more going out to all hours, being at every worthwhile show, sittin at ol' south pancake house till god knows when in the morning. All that has been left behind for making plans, babysitters, bed time stories, looking forward to bed time, homework, meal planning, etc. It also means that I have a built in exploring buddy. Talk about breathing new life into old sites. Taking a kid (who listens to directions,) to a low intensity site for their first explore is awesome fun. Moving right along to the point My SO has 'Mommy and ___________' days for her two kids. Fairly self explanatory. one of the kids gets a day out with mom, just the two of them. The other sprog gets to have the next one. Last time it was Mommy and Laila day, so I decided that it was going to be PK and Akila day. Now, anyone familiar with the incinerator at echo lake knows that the place is about as safe as you can get and still be 'exploring.' they might as well build a wheelchair ramp out there. Ergo, I decided that this would be an excellent place to take Akila and his buddy Stevie to introduce them to the joys of urbex. Also, it was a great way to make a quick buck off stevie's mom and get some great shots of my SO's kid ('cause i'm a good boyfriend and shit like that yo.) here are the pics I got. All these were done with either an ef 24-70mm f/2.8L on a 1D MkIII or an ef 85mm f/1.2L II on the same body. no artificial light was used.1.

Awesome.

If and when I have kids, they'll be hitting up some abandonments.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Sweet looks like they had fun. I took my son and stepson exploring one time underneath a bridge. They loved it. That is about as far as my lady will allow me to take them. Yet...

Great shots of the kids PK, love #1 & #5. B&W being my favorite medium period. The incinerator is a great place for kids, I've taken mine a few times.

I prefer just using the BBQ pit with a nice mesquite charcoal and a good marinade. Much simpler.
