| | Abandoned High Rise Complex - Georgia < on 3/16/2012 8:43 PM >
| | | Located in Georgia is this abandoned 19 story high rise, with attached hotel and office complex. Quite a find. The inside is virtually untouched with many TVs, computers(that still have power to them), and various electronics left behind. Some things not pictured that we found include: A pool table(with balls and cue sticks). TONS of glassware(hundreds of glasses) left from the dining areas and bars. Also located at this site is a large network switch that is rumored to handle much of the Southeast's internet. Many floor to ceiling servers that are up and running. Makes for quite some noise contradicting the status of the rest of the building. This could be the reason why the site is still guarded, with the office above the hotel lobby still in use. The tower itself was previously used as a hotel of some type, with the top floor containing a few penthouses. We spent some time in one of the penthouses hanging out, enjoying the view. The pictures included span over three different weekends. Also, all but a handful were taken with a point and shoot, so be nice! Tower, as seen from the road.
| View of the three different sized buildings.
| View from the mid-sized building.
| Room full of TVs
| Front entrance.
| Front desk.
| Elevators during the day.
| Elevators at night!
| Apparently was a master key.
| Oh really? I shall wait.
|
|
|
| Various electronics.
| Gift shop.
|
| Kitchen.
| Serving line.
|
| Empty office. Notice the computer. Some rooms still had computers plugged in with blinking lights.
|
|
| Room full of various blue prints.
|
| Newspaper dated 2004 (year this complex closes)
| Much of the bottom and top floors were lit.
| Elevator motor.
| On the roof of the mid-rise building. Camera(possibly still in use considering a couple other cameras we saw looked relatively new, despite the brace)
| Old radio gizmo we found. Anyone have any more info about this?
|
| On our way 19 floors up.
| Floor 19. Multi room suites. Left mainly untouched. All the other floors were stripped of carpet, furniture, etc.
| Chilling in our corner room on a nice couch left. Great view.
|
| Our 19th floor activity.
| A good night.

| | | Awesome location. Keep 'em coming. Next time uncheck the pop-up pictures box. Tends to be annoying for everyone.

| | | Last time I was there there were signs of renovations. How abandoned is it now? Did someone turn off that damn alarm near the security office? [last edit 3/18/2012 12:29 PM by redSky - edited 1 times]

It is still rather abandoned. It looked no different the 3 times I have been there. Well, except for the top floor, but heh, that's another story. And nope! That beeping from the small room is still there. Quite eerie when you first get in.

I feel like the only people who would recognize it would be people who live in the surrounding area, and obviously a visitor of this forum. The kinds of people who should already have known it was abandoned. And even before this post you and I and definitely not the only people who knew about it.

| | | Let's rewind. Welcome to UER. You get points for posting somewhere that is not common knowledge and is relatively difficult as your first post. However, this site is more of community than your average forum and we try to educate new members on best practices to preserve the places we love and our access to them. In general posting external shots on a public thread is frowned upon, especially when it's easy to identify the target from the shots. This is a pretty visible location for any and all commuters who go down a certain freeway every day, and even though the risk seems minimal to you, those of us who have watched some of our favorite spots locked down by security or dismantled by scrappers would prefer a certain level of paranoia. If you show people around here that you can be trusted you will see some really cool shit. If no one trusts you, you're not gonna see anything.

Seriously though, this is a really great find. One of the best things I have seen in the SE forum recently.
