Very nice start. I like the overall layout. Here's my two pieces of constructive criticism.

-Need more descriptions of the pictures.
-When viewed at 1024x800 (I'm at work) the site doesn't fit on the screen and I have to use the horizontal scroll bar to slide to the right to see everything. That's a big peeve of mine. Maybe you can find some way to have the page scale or better fit on all resolutions.

The blue writing on the bottom is very hard to see so you may want to change that. The yellow stands out nicely but I don't know about the background your using,it doesn't seem right for some reason.

Hope that helps,good start!!!

I was exploring the cave last night. That's why I was late.

Same here. If you could display the images in a Table set to 100% width then it would fit all screens. I know tables are so 1980's.

or simply remove the width setting from the DIV wrapper and it should adjust for 100%, or change the "width:1013px" to something like "width:100%">

Otherwise it's pretty easy to navigate.

Image aspect ratios!

Your images aren't squares... so the thumbnails for them shouldn't be squares either. A pet peeve of mine and a lot of people.

Thanks everyone for input, my replies:

Width - I will look into that, should be somewhere in the properties of my builder.
(by the way, which builders ppl use?)

Images - earlier I did not have thumbnails as squares. But then I decided to follow a certain rigid design and square every image. I think i looks better that way...

Background - I like it =), will stick with it for now unless some drastic design change.

Descriptions:
Some of the places are featured in a number of websites with wonderful descriptions. I do not think i can add something to it, other than maybe providing links, or even quoting if possible...
For little known places, I could create my own write-ups. Although, I am kind of worried about giving out info...

With so many exploration sites, what one may create that is not already there?

I use Notepad++ to write raw php code.

If people use builders at all, it's probably Dreamweaver that they're using. That's what I get from talking to a good number of friends who do small websites.

HTML code without dreamweaver:

<font size=3 color=red>Hi there</font>

HTML code designed by dreamweaver:

<font size=3><font size=1><font color=red>Hi there</font></font></font></font>

It inserts so many extra tags when you edit text and fails to remove them even with the 'Clean Up' feature. I'll still Dreamweaver though when I want to work with colours as I don't know what hex values I want to use for the colour tags (eg. #FAF0F2) and Dreamweaver has a colour pallette.

Not to mention none of that is technically valid HTML code anymore. Yeah, it works, but it's really, really old HTML.
