Winter beater 2011/2012

'93 Golf CL 1.8 5 speed.

It's so basic it doesn't even have a tach, just a tach sized clock. (Although it has an 8 speaker stereo and A/C)

I kind of love it.

I say no tach, but there's a neat trick involved with cycling the ignition while pressing the odo reset button that gives you a digital tach!

Freaking v-dubs. Like the odometer becomes a digital tach? That's kinda cool.

Yep! It's not in the owners manual or anything either which is cool.

It can also show your O2 sensor voltage, be a timer, do an LCD segment test, show the software version of your ECU and your cluster and some other stuff. I love things like that.

I might be given a 1990 Dodge Caravan. It's got some abuse, but I'm looking at perhaps making that the daily driver and convert the XJ to the fun vehicle.

I'm not 100% sure if the 3.0; I'm looking at getting more details on it and looking at it soon. I do know it was used by a contractor so it's probably panel van.

Well, I have connections to some old timers who are finally retiring from driving.
However, you can always find a good deal always along the side of the road.

I change cars like underwear (At least every few months). Although I'm loyal to my '99 Beetle, I just don't drive it in the winter. I've had more than a few free cars in my time, but I buy and sell a LOT of them.

I've had over 120 cars since I turned 16... and that's only 12 years ago.

I'm licensed to do my own safety inspections

(Although this Golf is basically mint... needed front pads and a muffler to pass safety)

Not really. It's an independent office I deal with, they're used to it.

the insurance on my MINI is close to $360 every 6 months. I would never be able to afford another vehicle.
