New to this website, new to urbex. I'm a female from outside of Charlotte, NC, and have done eight explores so far. I have a little point and shoot camera, my license, and a pack with some exploring supplies. I'm really looking forward to learning the ropes from this community.

A nice shot except the cam is angled up slightly; try to square off your shots for this type of image as it's hard to edited it out later. Bracing off a wall or door frame makes it easier.
Shoot or crop it so the ceiling/wall or the floor/wall line is in the left upper or lower corner of the image, respectively. That will give you a better presentation. When shooting keep that in the back of your mind when lining up this type of shot.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Hello, UER. My name is not important. My love of a forgotten world is. Whereas most find beauty in the rusting industrial wastes of a time long past, (as I do) I also love seeing nature reclaim what was hers. I live in Pittsburgh, a city that was once booming in the steel industry now only holds the rusting skeletal remains of those once proud relics. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh is booming in the tech world so these old monuments are being bulldozed to make room for trendy hipster condos and coffee shops. I am trying to preserve these sites with photographs. I've only been here 3 years and have only begun. Moved here from New Orleans. I look forward to meeting new people on here and sharing those hidden places not easily found on maps. Check out my YouTube channel for videos of my adventures.

Hello - I just moved to Vancouver, BC from the east coast. My entire life I've been doing something like UER, only not knowing it is called UER. I've got two great stories to share.
Very recently, was the TED Conference -- held in Vancouver BC since 2014 (prior to that in Palm Springs). Tickets are $8700 USD (yes, no joke). There is a way in through a tunnel under a hotel -- but if you don't have a badge (the badges are huge and have a full color picture of attendee on them) even if you're inside, there are security people everywhere. Fair enough considering that the CEO of Google was there, Larry Page, Steven Spielberg, and bunch of famous / rich people whose names don't matter anyway. While I didn't get into the convention center, I got into a several swanky hotels (top floor of the Pan Pacific that is reserved for VIPs with suites on that floor) and sat in the lounge for a while.
I got into the private party of Kleiner Perkins ( KPCB ) and met John Doerr (he's a famous VC, worth about $4.5 Billion). The best story was getting into the house of the chairman of Lionsgate entertainment gorgeous oceanside mansion with heated outdoor swimming pool in West Vancouver. This was a TED party, so there were lots of people (this time Sergei Brin). I thought about just driving into the driveway, but there were was a security shed with 4 guards and pylons blocking the way. I had to be a bit more creative ... once inside I saw a guy operating an underwater drone in the heated outdoor pool. He let me drive it around, he is the founder of a company called OpenROV super nice guy, it had a great camera on it. There were sushi chefs and a Vij's indian food truck in the driveway. All very delicious. I made friends with some CEOs and got a bunch of business cards. I introduced myself to the owner Harold, who is also very nice -- though I didn't mention the not-invited part.
Another really good story was when the pope (Benedict) visited Jerusalem in 2009. We snuck around some of the buildings in the old city -- got into a couple of the buildings that the Franciscans own; the best part was when we were on the ramparts (walls around the old city) after dark and jumped off into a courtyard ... turns out the pope was going to be giving mass there the next day. We peered in through the crack in the door and saw the special chair that the pope was going to sit in. Not long after we saw there were soldiers on the roof of the building, and, we just wanted to get out of there .... once we got out of the ramparts near the Jaffa gate we saw hundreds of soldiers, they were securing the place in preparation for the pope's visit the next day. It was kind of scary but really cool to have seen it. The pope stayed in Jerusalem for a few days, during that time we got into the hotel that the pope was staying at, Notre Dame. We tagged along a group of pilgrims and pretended to be with them when getting through security. We broke away once inside, and, actually, there wasn't much to see, and we were pretty scared so we weren't trying doors, and we left quite soon. We found the gardens had more interesting stuff, but got caught while snooping around, and asked to leave.
I am looking to explore Vancouver -- I'm good at getting into certain kinds of places, but, into places with different set of challenges.

I finally decided to sign up for an account at UER after a few months of fantasizing about the public map and where I'd like to go.
I'm studying Video Game Design and look to one day make a game about Urban Exploration. I'm primarily based in Massachusetts, and have done some UrbEx in the Boston area. I'd love to meet some folks in my area and go on some explorations together.
I'm a huge fan of dilapidated aboveground buildings, as well as woodrotted concrete structures.

Hey all! I'm an explorer currently hailing from Mesa, AZ. I've been very interested in UrbEx for many years, and a member on UER for a little under two. I've been fascinated by old buildings and secret places from a young age. Driving through the "bad part" of town was always the most fun part of any road trip. I've been on and off lurking here for a while, but recently decided that looking at demolished buildings was frustrating and that it would be much more fun to have access to buildings that still exist. I look forward to learning and growing here with you all Cheers!

I've had a lot of fun doing urbex in America, and now I'm hoping to try it in Tokyo as well, as I'll be living here for the foreseeable future. Sorry for the late reply, I didn't get a notification of your post. Honestly, the hardest part is dealing with your own internal anxiety / fear. To get into the house of Harold Ludwig (owner of Lionsgate, the company that made Hunger Games) putting on a spiderman costume and jumping around like a ninja...would not have worked. I put on instead my gentleman's costume, sport blazer with surgeons cuffs rolled up. I'll message you directly about the getting in part.

I think you should be able to post your pictures. You were able to post here, so you should be able to post a thread, too. At least I was able. But you can't post on the DB Map.

Hi everyone,
I recently joined this site because I am looking for people to explore with, and others that are willing to share locations in South Korea that have not been demolished. Korea continuously changes. Locations are often torn down and rebuilt overnight.
I am from Chicago where I was actively exploring, and have lived in South Korea for 6 years. I have noticed that there does not appear to be many people actively exploring in South Korea. I could be totally wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not new to exploring. Semi-new to Urb-Ex. And very new to this forum! I have just moved to Detroit. I came to this city for many reasons. The main one being - I want to help rebuild the city. And no, that doesn't mean tearing down all the old buildings! . . . I'd love to meet up with local urb-exers and get to know more about this place and the nearby urban "playgrounds" inside and out. Message me if you are in the Detroit area or within 100 miles? ? ! ! =)
