Hello UER, I was introduced to urbexing just this year after I began to become more serious about my photography and was looking into different subject areas. Right off of the bat I fell in love and not long after reading about it, I got a rag tag gang to accompany me on a trip to an abandoned rye distillery and it just solidified my interest. I took the pictures that I got on site and used some funky web coding (tons of parallax) and made a pretty slick page detailing what exactly urbexing is, and if it wasn't for the whole identity thing I'd totally share it with you guys. Hell, maybe one day I'll anonymously host something and put it up. Anyhow, just looking around for more Baltimore area locations in the meantime while I try to gain full membership. Let me know if you can think of any!

SOO MUCH FRESH MEAT!!!
Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)
Hello! I'm from Florida, currently in Virginia for the next three months. I'd love to meet up and explore. I've been to hotels, a high school, a college, a theme park, and a prison; my next goal is to find a hospital. Looking forward to being a part of this community!

Hello, I am obviously new to this site, and pretty new, but not entirely new to ue. Other related interests i have are climbing, parkour, stealth, and photography. Note that this does not mean I am any good at these things just that I am interested in them and would like to be. I am currently living in the eastern side of Washington but occasionally get over to the Seattle area, I joined this site to learn and to meet people with similar interest so feel free to message me if you are in my area and want to do something.
The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood. Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.
Posted by quacorezx Hey everyone, My name is Daniel, and I'm brand new to the UE scene. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and am not even sure where to begin (except for the old artillery batteries dotting Marin Country). If you have any tips, I'm all ears! - Daniel

Hello neighbor Plenty of places in the pac-southwest forums to check out. Figuring out where they are is half the fun.
The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us?

Hello everyone! I just started exploring really, having only visited a few abandonments - I'm hoping that now that I am in Philly I'll have more opportunities. I can't wait to add the few photos I do have - and hopefully some locations in the future. Looking forward to meeting some of the folks on here and finding some people to explore with. For anyone interested in talking, I identify as Trans*/genderqueer and while I generally appear as a cis-male please use "she" and "her" when referring to me. Thanks!

That's not entirely true... But you don't ask someone if you can fuck their sister the first time you meet them, you have to work up to it. Gain some trust. And you do that by showing that you can find other... oh wait, this comparison just fell apart. Damn.

nicely played.
The biggest faux pas you can make around here (ok, one of many) is to join, then start drilling everyone for locations. Gain some respect. Show what you can bring to the table. Learn to find things on your own. Get to know people.

Hey! I'm Rory. I was born and raised in Manhattan and I've always been drawn to the underbelly of the city, the part people aren't meant to see. I once saw a guy coming out of a man-hole when I was five and spent the next several weeks trying to pry open manholes to get in, to the chagrin of my parents. I'm eighteen now and three months ago my friend took me to an abandoned school. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I loved the stories in forgotten textbooks left on the floor, the peeling paint by the hooks still intact in a coat closet. I love the stories that a building can tell even after it has begun to decay, and the stories that decay tells. How an abandoned diner has been stripped for scrap metal. How in the basement of said diner is still water, accumulated from Hurricane Sandy. I'm excited to share photos and experiences on here, and also to learn more about safety stuff. I'm a female Urban Explorer (apparently we're statistically less common?) and I'm small. As such, I have to watch out for creepers and usually bring a few friends, which is a shame because I like exploring alone. Anyway, hi.

^ you should be careful. Get yourself some bear mace, or a taser, or a gun or something. People prey on young ladies in abandonments pretty much all the time.
Hi everyone, my name is Therrin. I'm 29 and I'm a guy (I even have a Guy Star). I'm a male Urban Explorer (apparently statistically we're more common?) and I'm a ginger yeti. As such I have to watch out for .... people who don't like yetis (or gingers) and wish to slaughter them and stuff them and mount them on the walls of their hunting lodge. I thought it was necessary to tell you not only my gender, even though it's posted on the left side of everything I say, under my name, but also a statistic about my gender, which I have zero hard data to back up. When I go exploring I'm usually alone or with somebody. Hi.

Was this at all necessary? Not exactly welcoming folks into the community are you?

You could have PM'd me, you know. Of course I'm welcoming people. I didn't say anything mean to her, I even gave her some wondrous advice. Keep a stiff upper lip chap, try not to wear your emotions on your sleeve.

Hey guys! I'm new here (hence the introduction on this thread). Living in the North Kentucky region, looking to get into urban exploring. I'm a preacher by profession, and whenever I do some [deeply amateurish] UE, it is a tremendous stress reliever. Got any tips or suggestions? How can I get more into/out of this? How can I meet up with people? (I'm sure there's a post about this, but I haven't found it yet). I really want some more experienced urban explorers to mentor me and show me the loop. Cheers!

lol I don't post baseless statistics. I post wikipedia-based statistics. "The hobby is most popular with white males who make up approximately 85% of explorers.[5]"

Heihei! I used to explore abandoned houses with my friends back when I was a kid, and recently (like a year ago) started again, this time fueled by geocaching. In Germany, where I am from, a lot of great abandoned places are indexed by geocaching.org, such as a huge underground fuel depot, an old bunker with entering through an air vent, a 5km underground river etc! This got me hooked big time and I started exploring my surroundings for other not 'as public' sites, such as unused subway sections, active buildings and other fun places. I usually go scouting, exploring active buildings or secured spots such as the subway alone, because that keeps me on my toes and feels more 'involved'. I do also enjoy exploring with my friends though, but then it tends to stick to easy pickings, and it's me organizing the tour. I'm not much for fancy photographs, so I am carrying only a point and shoot, if at all, thus I don't have much to show for but can offer a lot of advise on exploring in germany! I just moved to the Greater Toronto Area, which seems to teem with places to see and go to. I've already checked a few drain outfalls and toured some abandoned places, as non native canadian I'll stay clear of any security for now, even though Hearn looks really epic I am really looking forward to my time here! Sadly I missed the Toronto meetup in July and can't make it to the August one, but I will go to the September one.
