It'd be a shame to lock a thread with 80-odd pages of otherwise great content. So let's please abstain from the petty bickering and concentrate on posting pics. Thank you.
It's great to be alive! |

Right on. Siper, those were some beautiful pics. Thanks so much for posting those!

Love that old tractor Siper. I've got to get off my lazy ass I figure out HDR some time soon. I was in a place today that would turn out amazing with a little HDR but as usual I was trying to figure out the settings on my camera while on location which never works out for me.

I'm usually not a fan of fisheye. Probably 98% of the time I really don't care for fisheye. But I really like that picture, nicely done.

@ partime wanderer: I've learned a ton about my camera on Youtube. It really helps to have explanations in video. Do a search on there using your camera model. For in-camera settings while on site, all you really need to do is set to auto-bracketing. I usually set it to the widest possible range. You then use your remote and shoot three photos. For stuff with water, clouds or other normally moving stuff, I usually space out the exposures over several seconds or more which will add more blur. Pretty simple once you've located the setting. The really hard work is in post, trying not to turn it into clown vomit.

Thanks Vectored. I've read about the settings for HDR on my camera a couple of times but either forget them by the time I get to a location or I find the post-processing doesn't produce what I was expecting. I have a feeling I need to have wider bracketing like you suggested and then I need to practice more.

I'm honored! I've never seen any of my prints on anyone's wall (not even my own). Thanks for your support and thanks for posting!

Instead of merely reading about it, practice setting it and turning it off every time you use your camera. Should become pretty familiar in a hurry. Post processing is an entirely different thing. It took me several hours to get the results I was looking for the first time. After that, you can set a preset, load up the next pic series, run the preset and make minor tweaks from there. I spent a lot of time jamming sliders back and forth in large swings to see what the results of each were on the final result. It really helps with absorbing what each one's function is.

Huge thanks to Siper for all the help on this one. Didn't quite come out how I'd hoped. Still, not too bad for my first try!

This. This is exactly my workflow. Except that I also run my shots through Nik Color Efex and OnOne Perfect Effects for some more minor adjustments/cross processing.

YEAH! This came out awesome, dude! It's just a matter of time and experimentation. I spent countless hours in The Rabbit Hole going from this:

1.
Nothing would ever change; nothing new could ever be expected. It had to end, and it did. Now in the dark world where I dwell, ugly things, and surprising things, and sometimes little wondrous things, spill out in me constantly, and I can count on nothing |

i am the other yourself. "Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices? I've heard them calling my name. Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors. The voice might be one and the same. I've heard it too many times to ignore it. It's something that I'm supposed to be." http://www.flickr....orers/collections/ |
