How hot is too hot to ride your air-cooled ATV?

Depends on how much air ya gonna have moving over the fins? Low speed crawlin or muddin or straight long stretches of speed and fun?

little bit of all of the above. you can hammer down the road, then on to the trail for a crawl, into a mudder, back on to a road and then back up a mountain to the next fire road... it's a bit of everything where we ride.

I have ridden in 100F heat with no real issue other than a roasted crotch. But your machine should be able to tell you if its gettin too hot and needs a rest. Treat it like you would a horse, have some fun, then let her rest a few minutes.

93F today... rode all over the damn place. Nary an issue.

As long as yer movin' those fins do a pretty damn good job. When my air cooled bikes get warm/hot, I can smell it, and feel the loss of power. Then I let them rest a bit along with me in a shady spot, if there is any. My water cooled bikes give me more grief than the air cooled ones.

i think i'd rather have air-cooled, myself. i was more worried about the clutch than the engine...
