Evo X is Last Evo

didnt see any posts on this. but if there are i will gladly accept..

http://www.torquen...ion-x-be-final-evo

"This is a report that is simply heart crushing, as according to Gayu Eusegi, head of global product development for Mitsubishi, the Lancer Evolution X will be the last Evo that the company builds.

The Lancer Evolution X, and the entire Evolution franchise for that matter, has been stunningly good and part of the reason why people still care about Mitsubishi. Let’s be honest, if it wasn’t for the Evo, is there anything else that they make that people want to buy?

So, instead of focusing on the Lancer Evolution, Mitsubishi will instead look to the future and focus on electric vehicle technology. According to Autocar, the Japanese automaker will release eight fully electric or hybrid-electric vehicles by the year 2015. Sadly, the Lancer Evolution has no place in a world of electric vehicles, tree hugging or environmental hippies.

Despite the Lancer Evolution’s massive popularity, the automaker isn’t scared of taking such a drastic step and they feel that their customers will understand and rally behind the brand. They hope to increase environmental awareness within the car buying public by destroying a rally legend and until the world goes electric, the Evo will be a distant memory.

"Maybe the world can change, and maybe someday we can do a motor race by electric vehicles. Maybe then we can enter the market again," Eusegi said.

There have been numerous reports that have speculated that the Evo XI would be a hybrid vehicle. That would ensure better fuel economy, but at the same time keep up the performance. That might still be in the cards, but Autocar is not known for making stuff up or hiding the truth, so the Evolution might just be dead.

That being said, there is a chance that Eusegi was stating that the internal combustion engine Evolution is dead, but that sometime in the future, it might return with batteries in the trunk, which could help weight distribution.

[Autocar]"

i admit the EVO is a monster (MR/FQ400) its considered a SuperCar

this kinda sucks ....more than kinda

Pretty old news, but the next Evo would have been bigger than a Suburban at the rate they were going.

However, I'll always have a soft spot for the Evo X in my heart...

That (same car) was the first Evo X built for competition use in North America. It won modern division of Targa Newfoundland in 2008, then we converted it to a proper stage rally car. It even made it to the X Games last year.

I'm still partial to the Evo IX though.

Not too many cars can survive a front flip... and this one did.

Minor cage damage, a roof skin, and a windshield.

Oh, and that WRC rear wing was TOAST.

I hate the hatchback... looks like a Focus... but the new sedan version is SEXY.
Sadly, they totally ruined the rear suspension design for any practical rally use.

lets hear it for another marketing blunder by mitsubishi.
it was a showroom traffic builder... people who couldn't afford the Evo, let in a Lancer Rally or a Lancer OZ edition, or even just a plain old Lancer.

this decision by the high command of mitsubishi really makes no sense.

actually the new focus and forte hatch look like the STi

i love the STi II and III. those were my fav styles

do love the evo X and i found this qoute from a book i just bought called "supercars"

about the Evo VIII MR FQ-400

"The Pagani Zonda cranks out a very respectable 76.12bhp per liter. The Porsche Carrera GT manages 106.75.The FQ-400 claims 202.5bhp per liter. The japanese certainly know how to get the most from their engines."

pretty nice if i do say so

Challenger was the same car as the Sapporo.

I was just giving a couple examples of some extreme suck.

The Stealth was neat, but terrible. The Talon/Laser was neat, but terible.

D50 was great aside from that horrible 2.6 liter lump, ditto with the Conquest.

My 80 D50 had a 2.0L/2bbl (Mikuni!!!) and a 4speed gearbox.
75mph was about all it would do and it was screaming for mercy doing it.

hmmm... it was a 2wd, was geared like a dumptruck, had 15" wheels with band-aid tires on them which exacerbated the problem... so 75mph = 5500RPM or so.

Okay, the Sapporo was incredibily goofy for sure, but the Colt wasn't that BAD. It just seemed to be your average badge engineered shit box at the time.
